I am new to these forums in terms of posting but have been hovering around for a month or so. Anyways, I was curious if anyone had a timeframe of the Core 2 Duo T60p refresh if it at all is going to happen.
Here I will describe my situation, I badly need a laptop for my last year at college. I worked for IBM as an intern and had a blast and therein discovered the Thinkpad. While I worked there they gave us T60p with all the top stuff, etc and now I want one bad. So I was going to wait for T60p refresh for the core 2 duo, mainly for the 64bit addition. I can't really wait for Santa Rosa probably because a Thinkpad with that platform wont actually materialize for a while. Anyways, the Core 2 Duo is non-negiotiable, but I am flexible with the FireGL, I do like games (dont really play that much just a few), but I guess I could sacrifice if the X1400 is just a tad bit worse.
Also I have seen a few things about the screen and when I look at the EPP sight it seems random whether the IPS (I think the good one) is in the screen or not). Also I cant find any 15" with higher than 1400 resolution (desktop space is paramount for me), when I swear I looked a while back and it was availible. Anyways any advice would be appreciated

The Core 2 Duo refresh will definitely happen, it was announced this week the T, R, X and Z series are being refreshed and available in the next few days. In fact, you can find the X with Core 2 Duo now. The T60p would be a natural fit for the Core 2 Duo.

Yeah on the EPP site I can find the T60, Z61e and R60 and I forget what else, but hopefully the T60p will be soon. Also is the Z61e the same build quality as the T series just a bit bigger, thicker, and heavier?

It won't have the mag-alloy lid, but is otherwise a solid notebook.

Maybe Ill wait, seeing as how the T60 doesnt have the 802.11n, like some of the Z and X and R do, it will probably come in stages as these laptops have. Thanks for the tips

wireless N is in the testing stages now. Your prob already half through the semester. To be honest you'd have to order it now to get it by finals. it doesn't sound like you really want the T60. The SXGA+ resolution doesnt go any higher. If real estate is your fix then go widescreen.
