I am planning to get the T60p with UXGA Flex View. I would like to ask, are those text on 1600 x 1200 resolution is unreadable or still readable, I will use it to porgram with Websphere studio and others Java IDE. Can I read the code or it is unacceptable to read the code in that resolution at 15" screen? Thank you.

You can change the text size with WebSphere studio so it wont be an issue with that specifically.

But for anything in which you cannot change the fonts or text size, it's gonna be uncomfortably small (yes readable but with strain).

I work with a guy who has his thinkpad set to 1600x1200, but i can't read the screen...it's just too small for me. I have a 15" UXGA and I use it at 1280x1024, which is very comfortable.

My old laptop was 15" UXGA and I had difficulty with how small things were. I increased the font using several methods, which certainly helped, but I still sort of wished it was SXGA.

I changed the resolution to SXGA for a little while, but LCDs are blurry when not at their default resolution, so I eventually had to change it back to 1600x1200. I've got a 14" SXGA right now, which I think is very good, even though I still wish things were a bit larger every once in a while. So my choice would be SXGA, but it's certainly a preference thing.

Jmmmm i think you mean sxga+ (i forget the + too sometimes)
Thing is, some t40-series did have 1280x1024 sxga before rather than 1400x1050. I think the former was better, for my eyes anyway.

Size wise I didn't find it much smaller than 1400x1050. I think at that point both were pretty small. I wear glasses for nearsighted-ness, and still found everything comfortable to read.

Thanks for opinions. I guess I will get the UXGA since I am used to small words already. Also the Flexview is really tempting. :)

I think it depends on your age a lot. If you are relatively young, your eyes will not have the issues with focusing that some of these geezers have ;-P. I have 14" 1400x1050 and it's fine by me...it is comparable to the 15" 1600x1200. You get a lot more information on the screen, I hate having to tab back and forth through windows.
