I probably need a T60p for architecture but I was wondering if I would be able to do any gaming on this machine as well. I know its strictly more of an openGL card but will that slow me down too much? any advice would be great.

I'm playing games on mine and it's perfect well until I cracked the screen.

All you need is to get the latest ATI drivers and install it. You don't need hacks or anything. Voila start enjoying your games.

So will I be able to play games like FEAR and the new Crysis or Alan Wake? perhaps with an updated thinkpad with a DX10 card?

uh... i think the new crysis needs dx10 and... a good amount of system resources. the new lighting engine they have on that eats alot of juice

Those DX10 games are all BS they use DX9 graphics but "Require" DX10(Vista). If you want to play FEAR you'll need to crank the res to 1024x768 or lower if you want to keep eye candy or turn off eye candy.

Just have 2Gigs of RAM and a fast CPU and you should slow the aging of your machine.
