    T60p or a T61? Please advise

    Hello All,

    I need some advice please. I am about to buy a thinkpad laptop. Due to travel issues, i need one that would be warranty-covered abroad. This imposes some restriction on what i can buy. I'd like it to have a wide screen with a high resolution, so 1620x1050 for the 15.4, or 1440x900 for the 14.1. The models I cant seem to find a model that get covered abroad in the T61 with the high resolution. I can find one with the 14.1. On the other hand, i can get a T60p with the 15.4 screen, and it would be covered abroad. Now, I know that the T61 comes with the new roll cage thing, and that the T60p had issues with its wireless. So is it worth it to get the 14.1 wide T61 vs the 15.4 T60p. Any advice on the wireless issue, screen quality, build, etc.

    The specific models i am considering now are the 8744-C9U(15.4) for the
    T60p, and 6457-6PU (15.4" which is not currently available) and
    7664-05U(14.1") for the T61.

    I was also going with the T7300 processor vs the T7200, but i was told that the bus speed won't make that much difference.

    Any advice is MOST appreciated. I have to make the decision asap, as i have to travel in three weeks or so.

    Why not the T61p? With the WUXGA screen and Nvidia Quadro 570M card.

    I couldn't figure out the right answer to this either. Finally ended up with a Dell...they seem to be covered pretty much everywhere. Come on Lenovo get on the ball.

    the bus speed helps slightly, but is not that much of a big deal. If an international warranty is key then the T60 is a no brainer. The T60 didnt really have wifi problems, its just that the T61 does a better job with it.

    I would call IBM(not lenovo as IBM does all the warranty work)just to confirm what would happen in the event that something were to happen to a T61 internationally.

    Thanks for your reply. Some T61's get covered internationally. It is just certain models. Ironically, i did purchase a T61 that i configured from Lenovo(it is on the way). I had a choice of 3 base systems to start from, and i chose a 6460 type system, which is not covered. The 6459 one that Lenovo offers in the T61 is covered. It was just bad planning on my side.

    I am now looking for a T61 type 6459 or 6457. Does anyone know where to get these(not from Lenovo, cause i am travelling abroad soon)
