I have an offer from my school to order a new Thinkpad T60p at a supposedly discounted rate. The bad part is that even if I order it now, I won't be able to get it until August. So is it a good deal?

    Specs include:
    Core 2 Duo T7200(2.0ghz)
    2 GB DDR2 667mhz
    15.4" WSXGA+
    160GB 5400rpm Hard Drive
    DVD+/-RW DL
    256MB ATI Mobility FireGl V5250
    9 cell battery
    Bluetooth
    3 yrs Parts/Labor Warranty
    $1665(bottom line, no tax)

I just wanted some opinions on whether it really is an unbeatable deal.

For the specs it seems like a decent deal. If you don't need the v5250 or T7200, you can probably get the 15" T61 when it becomes available or some thing else cheaper.

Well I do game, so both of them would be great. I also want a widescreen monitor, which is why I don't want a T61.

It's a reasonable price, however, some things are bit over charging... -_-

It's cheaper on the Lenovo website right now (1663.00) for a similarly configured system but you will still have to pay tax.. You could order now for about the same price and if Lenovo doesn't ship within 12 days they will usually give you an additional 10% discount if you talk to their complaints department (at least that's what they told me and they kept their word). Since Lenovo's shipping is a mess I wouldn't be surprised if they miss the 12 day mark.

Also if you only get the 1GB configuration it takes about $130 off the price and you can order a stick from newegg for about 1/2 that.
