Hello,
I would really appreciate all the help i can get here. I am travelling abroad soon, so i have to buy my new machine in the next week or so. I can't order from Lenovo, as it takes forever, so i have to buy from an online dealer. I am thinking of:
1- T60p, model 8744-C9U. This is a T7200,2GB, 256MB FireGL, 100GB. Do any of its (preferably recent) owners have any complaints? I read a few things about wireless and heat.
2- T61, any model with an international warranty, and with a T7300+, 15.4 WSXGA+(or 14.1 WXGA+ if i had to), and a 100+ GB.
3- If I go with a T61 14.1 W(as i can't wait for or find a T61 15.4), is it expected to have heat problems cause of it smaller size?
4- If anyone knows a place to get a T61 15.4 WSXGA+ with a 100+ GB (other than the 6460 and 6465 models) please let me know. If that is against the forum rules, please send me a PM.
Finally, does buying from the online dealers usually mean an older machine(i.e. new, but made by lenovo months ago).
Please help!!
Thanks
Ahmed

I assume that you do not live in Scandinavia, since you are talking about ordering directly from Lenovo. So, I do not know how the international warranties work in all countries.
However, the question of wireless card heat is the same on almost all computers.
We do not have exactly the same type of machine you mentioned, but similar ones.
I do not think that you need to worry so much about the wirelss adapter, since it is pretty far away from the CPU, but pretty close to the graphics chip and graph memory.
I can not answer you with 100% confidence, since a couple of our T60p machines have been reported to have some kind of heat problems with the graphics chip, and a couple of the T60p machines work without any problems at all. Our developers are in totally different locations while they work with the computers, so, maybe it can be the environmental conditions (such as high office temperature or humidity) which make the computers to be somewhat unstable.
The guys who have had those problems have solved it by decreasing the graphics speed to medium, and with those settings, the computers are stable. Now, I do not know if the problem can be because of the WLAN card (since it is so close to the GPU/memory) generating the heat and making the computer unstable or if it is just because of the GPU/memory, but the wireless functionality is pretty stable.
T60p users. Please help
