My trusty ol' T60p has started to act weird. If it runs out of battery, it won't turn on when i reconnect the AC adapter, nor does the battery or AC LEDs light up. However, leaving it by itself the night over, and suddenly, the lights are lid and it boots up just fine. Any idea whats wrong and how to get rid of this annoying bug?

    Try the old IBM trick:

Unplug the AC adapter, remove the battery, hard and media drives.

Press the "power" button ten times in a row, holding it down for ten seconds each time and thirty seconds the last time around.

Plug the adapter - but nothing else - back in and see whether the machine behaves.

    Good luck.

Thanks. I'll try that. I like your FrankenPad, BTW :)

Discharged the capacitors to begin with...but there still might be an underlying hardware issue hiding someplace, so proceed with caution....

    Good luck.

Consider opening up your T60p with the Hardware Manual ( here) and check for dust on the motherboard. You may want to use an air can to blow pieces of dust off you computer parts.

Dust on the motherboard never caused a lack of booting. Watch the machine and get back to the board if there are problems. The person who said there may be problems hiding maybe correct. Let us hope not.
