    Hey guys,

What games will run well with the 140M card? I checked the big "what can it run" thread, but there isn't too much info on the 140M.

The most important game I want to play right now is WoW, and I want to make sure that it will run medium-high settings with good fps at 1440x900. My last card was an ATI mobility radeon x600, ideally it would surpass this by a noticeable amount - the last card still struggled during mass pvp.

It would also be nice to be future-proof for games like Starcraft 2, but no one knows those requirements so this isn't as big of a deal. I honestly wish they had the 570m option!

I was also looking at the Asus F8SV-a1 instead of the t61, in case the 140M isn't strong enough, since the F8 has the GeForce 8600M GT. Anyone have any thoughts on that?

I'm able to run the Source games well with almost maxed out settings. I get around 40fps when everything is set to max except AA/AF. Once I get more RAM I'm sure performance will get better.

You should be able to run WoW just fine.

The 140M is equivalent to the 8400GS so look for that in the threads. And using laptopvideo2go drivers with modded inf should help performance.

As for WoW it should run fine on mid. Its a very forgiving game for graphics..the usual limiting factor for 128bit and 64 bit cards being in ramping up the resolutions. High settings might be pushing it a little esp in Shatt/pvpfests. Haven't played that game in awhile ( cancelled ) so no idea how recent patches have changed it so YMMV.

Thanks for the clarification. So if I was to use an external monitor, the games wouldn't work so well on this card because it's built for a 14.1' resolution? And laptopvideo2go drivers for the 8400GS is same as the 140M?

Also pretty happy that it will run source games fine ... been missing some CS:S and winter break is coming :)

Ive been able to run everything ive thrown at mine at native res, 1280x800 supreme commander runs great on med high, and i also hav crysis running on low detail, but it runs at about 30fps cutscenes are a different story though.

The 140M/8400GS have 64bit memory buswidth. Compare that with the 570M/8600GT(128bit) and the upcoming 8800M(256bit) and you have a pretty good idea what res you should aim for. I'd say the sweet spot for gaming on 8400GS would be 1280x800.

For year old games you can get away with 1440x900 generally speaking - depends on the game too. For WoW I think 1440x900 should be fine at mid. One thing I noticed when I played WoW, having a hi res really helps because of all the mods . I'm a mod junkie - I have to have my ui mods :D.

The 140M has some great overclocking ability, I hit 2500+ on 3DMark 06 with mine (575 core, 800 mem).
I run WoW at 1440x900 around medium and I dont notice slowdown, I do have the spells on low though because they're a killer in a big battle.

Ah good to know that WoW is still OK on medium. I think on my asus z70v I had everything set to medium (but I think i left spell detail high ><), but distance and terrain detail were low though. I kinda do wish to play the game at high detail, but I know that's pushing it with a 14.1' notebook.

Haha, I am a mod junkie too, but I like to keep my UI as clean as possible. I know it's not possible in raid situations but you try your best :)
