Working on rebuilding & upgrading a T61 (6457-4UU) and I put in a Kingston SSDNow 64GB SSD (2nd gen SSDNow w/ TRIM). Windows 7 install was successful, but now I'm getting an Error 2100 on every reboot (Detection error).

It seems that the T61 models do not like SSDs much, and reading some threads over on thinkpads.com and around the web lead me to believe that only certain SSDs work in the T61.

Anyone else encounter similar problems? If I take out and reseat the SSD, the T61 boots just fine. No issues with using a hard disk drive. It should be noted that I am using middleton's modded BIOS to give me SATA2 3Gb speeds. Could that be the issue?

Most likely it could be down to your SSD, I had a similar problem when I used a Corsair SSD on my T61. Sometimes it boots fine, sometimes it just couldn't find the drive leading to Error 2100 (which apparantly was a known issue). I exchanged it back for an Intel SSD (X25-M) and it had gave me trouble free service since then. I'm also using Middleton's modified BIOS on my T61 too.

What version of firmware do you have installed on the SSD?

Samsung SSDs are also working fine, as far as I figured out from my research.

Don't know what firmware version, but I have an Intel X-25M G2 120GB drive that I'm going to throw into it instead. Was hoping to put the X-25M into a newer, more often used rig, but if it works then I'll stick with it.

Same problem with both of my Kingston SSD's and my T61. (V+ and V series)

I even made a thread about it: http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo-ibm/552741-ssd-t61-arent-getting-along.html

I remember a download page on Lenovo's website where it had some type of firmware for SSD's and the T61. It promised that it would fix any compatibility problems with SSD's. The only problem was that Kingston was not listed on the page.

I am trying to install a Corsair Force3 in a T61 and the 2100 error is making me crazy. The SSD works fine in two desktops, booting win7 perfectly. Install in the T61? 2100 error. Updated the BIOS (to the factory BIOS, not Middleton's yet), same thing. I have swapped the SSD and the HDD 8 times - the HD works every time, the SSD? Never; always a 2100 error. I love the laptop, but this SSD crapshoot is no good...
