    Hi guys 'n gals.

I'm looking at upgrading my beloved T61 (6466-55G) to 4GB of ram. Brands and prices are a little tight in South Africa, but the two best options seem to be:

    2x 2GB DDR2-667 Corsair (model #VS2GSDS667D2)
    or
    2x 2GB DDR2-800 Patriot (model #PSD22G8002S)

Would the T61 (my CPU is a T7100, 1.8ghz) see any benefit with DDR2-800 ?

Both kits have the same warranty and price, but I won't bother with DDR2-800 if the 965 chipset / fsb is only going to scale it back to 667.

IIRC, the Santa Rosa platform does not support DDR2-800 MHz speeds, but only DDR2-667 MHz speeds. This is despite Santa Rosa having a 800 MHz FSB. For that reason, there should not be any performance difference between the two for your T61.

I would probably get the 800 MHz Patriot one anyway since everything else is equal.
