    Hi All,
I have a T61, and my hard drive seems really slow. In Windows Vista, I get a Primary Hard Disk score of 3.0. Can anyone with a T61 running Vista or Windows 7 tell me what their Primary Hard Disk score is on the Windows Experience Index? What's the normal range?

    Thanks.

My Windows Experience Score + System Specs:
    Processor (5.0) - C2D T7300 @ 2.00GHz
    Memory (5.0) - 3GB RAM
    Gaming Graphics (4.2) - Nvidia 8400m (NVS 140)
    Primary Hard Disk (3.0) - Seagate 7200 16MB 160GB drive
    OS - 64-bit

That seems really low to me. I swear that my graphics was my lowest score on my T61 with very similar specs. I'll check it tonight when I get home, but I swear it was over 4.2 with the slow 80GB drive it came with, then got better with my 250GB 7200rpm seagate.

The WEI is a terrible performance benchmark; it often yields different results for the same hardware. Try using HD Tune to get a real idea of whether your drive is performing as well as it should be.

I have 5.1 for that cat. My intel card was the lowest at 3.5.

Thanks, guys. This helps a lot... seems like something is definitely out of whack. Strange. I've done a defrag (regularly) and have lots of free space on the drive. I'll double check that I have the latest storage managers from Intel installed.

Ya I just checked mine, its a 5.9. Something must be wrong there. I agree that WEI is a horrible benchmark, but still thats way too low.

    Hi Guys,
I ran HD Tune. Here are the results. I'm not sure how to interpret them.

    Minimum Transfer Rate: 1.9 MB/sec
    Maximum Transfer Rate: 57.9 MB/sec
    Average: 38.2 MB/sec

    Access Time: 14.4 ms

    Burst Rate: 74.3 MB/sec

    CPU Usage: -1.0%

I did an "error scan" but turned up nothing unusual. I also made sure I installed the latest storage driver from Intel.

    Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
