Why? If you don't know what it does, search google and see what comes up. I would hazard a guess that some of that stuff is needed; drivers, for example. If you are serious about cleaning up, do a clean install.

Randomly deleting folders is a quick way to break a windows install. If you have the hard drive space, do yourself a favor and leave it alone. The other option is what vespoli stated, doing a clean install. Of course, then you'll need a Vista CD. I assume the restore partition restores the same crap.

i did a clean install through the hidden restore partition. the reason i did it, is cause i tried partition my HD and the computer shut off in the middle in it, and totally screwed my drive up, 1000 errors, computer messed up, ;( so took me an hour to merge it back and stuff, then i did a clean restore (very scary lotsa errors) and when u restore, u can choose what u want on it, so u can choose not to have norton, and other junk,

After the clean install, i basically had 10+ gigs of extra space. so yeah I recommend doing the restore first.

I think most of those are installs left over after updates if you run the Lenovo System Update...it left quite a few of those after I ran a few of the required updates.

delete away! those are just the setup files when you unpack the drivers you downloaded from lenovo. if you ever need them again, just redownload the setup package.

Whew, so my theory was correct...

Its just temporary files that Lenovo uses when you install drivers/updates and all the fun stuff.

Doesnt do anything except save you space if you delete it.

Well, if you for some reason don't want to download again, those files could be of use..........

...but seeing as how they're gonna be erased anyway when you download an update from Lenovo, you might as well erase them now

You could always back them up on a thumb drive or a CD if you want to keep them handy just in case.

Some of the files are also for applications like sonic, windvd etc that are freebies that came with the laptop, you can't download them so if you ever want any of that stuff you need to keep the orginal folders somewhere.
