    Hey,

Sorry I'm new to this IBM software thing. I used to have an Asus laptop so I'm not really sure how this IBM software works (at least not inside out).
The problem I'm having right now is that if I type too fast (i.e. over 90wpm) with audio not muted, the computer makes a beeping sound. Kinda like the sound a normal computer would make if you press several keys at once over and over again. No problems if the audio is muted.
Is there any way to disable this sound? It's really annoying.

    Thanks~

I think you're typing so fast that the computer thinks you're hitting more than 2 keys at once. :p

It's when you're pressing three or more keys at the same time.

Are you running Vista or XP (so I can tell you how to turn off the beep.)

It happens when you press 3 buttons that are right next to each other such as: A,W,S. This doesn't happen for a button further away (i.e. A,W,P does not beep)

    Windows XP. Thanks!

hmm interesting, never came across something this sensitive before though. I would have to actually pound at the keys on my desktop or previous laptop for something like this to happen heh

I experienced this same situation when first switching to a T61. I type extremely fast as well.

I presume my previous computer just did not have a beep function when typing multiple keys at the same time. I'm pretty sure this is the culprit.

I'm also interested in this, how do you disable beeping in Vista?

The instructions for Vista and XP are almost identical:

    XP:

    1) Go to the Device Manager by going to My Computer, then Properties, then Hardware, then Device Manager.

    2) In the Device Manager, click at the top View then Show Hidden Devices.

    3) Expand the Non-Plug and Play Drivers, then right click ' Beep' and click Properties. From there, go to Driver, then on the drop-down menu select Disable.

    4) Reboot.

    Vista:

    1) Click Start Orb, right-click Computer, then go to Device Manager

2,3 & 4) Follow instructions previously stated for XP.

That's it! Enjoy your beep-less ThinkPad!

Beat me to it ;) I lived with that beeping for a couple months before I finally looked it up.
