I recently had some problems with my T61 video drivers and decided to reinstall them. I went to the Lenovo website and downloaded the newest Nvidia drivers which should be version 179.28 for Windows Vista 32-bit. Upon trying to install, it gives me the following setup error message:

"Setup detected that the operating system in use is not Windows Vista [32-bit]. This setup program and its associated drivers are designed to run only on Windows Vista [32-bit]. The installation will be terminated."

Now I know I have Windows Vista 32-bit for sure as I haven't tampered with the operating system before. I even went on the Nvidia website to scan my computer and see what drivers it recommends for my T61. I downloaded the exact same driver and I got the exact same setup error message.

Just a bit more information about my T61. It is the T61 7664-16U with the Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M video card. Does anyone else have this problem? Can anyone help me with the driver installation error?

Just to be sure, do this:

    1. Open System by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking System.
    2. Under System, you can view the system type.

Windows Vista Business edition - system type: 32-bit Operating System. This was actually the first place I checked after I got the error message.

I downloaded that already. Nothing. Why won't the install driver recognize that I do have Windows Vista 32-bit...?

I'm having the same issue but with a Sager 9262 and XP Pro 64. Would you happen to have a dual boot setup?

Can't you manually install the driver via Device Manager?

Just to be precise, I think this is the installation for 175.97, not 179.28. As far as I know, 175.97 are the most recent drivers issued for the T61p and T61.

not sure if this is gonna help, but there is a program called driversweeper that will find all files of you old video driver and will remove them, so that you could do a clean video driver install next time.
