Yesterday I ordered a T61 14.1" widescreen and have been researching its size and weight.

I keep reading different figures about the weight and I'm not sure what to believe. So far I've seen figures from as low as 5.0 pounds to as heavy as 5.6 pounds. Which is it?

My current 3.5 year old 14.1" standard Dell Inspiron 600m (which has been absolutely fantastic over these years, it'll become my secondary laptop once my ThinkPad arrives) weighs 5.6 pounds and is 1.3 inches thick making it a very light and thin notebook at the time.

I've read that the T61 14.1" widescreen is 1.26 inches thick, is this accurate?

Weight and thickness are both fairly important to me since I've gotten so used to my Dell.

Also, anyone have any idea why the WXGA+ screen isn't available with a camera option?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The ThinkPad 14" Widescreen is 1.25" at the thickest point and about 1.12" at the thinnest. Just measured.

I'm not sure about the weight though.

About the WXGA+ with camera, apparently it used to be an option, but no longer. I don't know the reason.

Thanks for your feedback, any idea when they stopped the WXGA+ with camera option?

The 1.25" thickness is definitely very nice.

If I had to guess, probably around the end of July since I started looking for notebooks around August and I don't recall WXGA+ w/ camera.

The camera option is still available on the Lenovo Canada website. I just ordered one. I have the exact same question as you regarding the weight. On Lenovo's website, they declare the weight actually starts at 4.5 lbs. I wonder if that is with the 4 cell battery or not.

Does anyone know if it's possible to order thru the Canadian site and have the unit shipped to me in Colorado? I really want the hires screen with the camera!

I just read a thread that it might be possible to order one by calling a salesperson versus ordering over the web so this might be an option.

The WXGA+ TFT has higher resolution. Can't remember what the exact resolution is. Google WXGA and you'll find out.

WXGA is 1280x800. WXGA+ is 1440x900. In essence, you get more working space with WXGA+.
