Noticed it in the buy.com newletter...

Great specs and a good price, but XGA isn't for me...

Yes, I noticed this today and was hoping someone posted it. A three year warrantee, too! I got my T61 already, XP and a 100gb drive but otherwise it looks fab. Comes with a 6v battery.

According to my rep these should be shipping from Lenovo itself by the end of August.

I've been hearing stories of 4:3 models shipping by mid-July then the end of July and now the end of August. And meanwhile some reps are still apparently saying 4:3 models will not be offered to consumers at all. Hard to know what to believe these days.
I do, however, think the T61 14.1" widescreen model is ugly with its battery sticking out and off-centered screen. Dell managed to make the D630 look sleek so why can't Lenovo do the same witht he T61??? -
Oh, come on. You don't notice the un-centered screen when you are using it
Besided that, I believe too that a 4:3 SXGA+ would be better: audiojacks to the left side, no firewire, higher resolution, 9 cell accu available, 6 cell not sticking out. Smaller casing around screen -
Maybe they themselves are not sure what to do.
The picture on that buy.com page looks like a widescreen though, and seems off centered.
T61 14.1 4:3 (8895) $1189 but XGA
