I think I'm about to buy one and I'm trying to find out if it will fit in my notebook bag. I've found at least 4 people asking the same question, and some pics of the 15.4" model, but no answer from anybody on if the 6 cell battery sticks out of the 15.4" T61.

If it does stick out, does a 4 cell battery work in it? If so I'd buy it with a 9 cell to throw in my bag and leave the 4 cell installed most of the time.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

The six cell does not stick out, the 9 cell sticks out about a quarter of an inch.

I think we need new terminology for batteries.

Inny - The battery does not extend out of the laptop case.

Outy - The battery does extend out of the laptop case.

E.g. Is the 6-Cell Battery on the T61 an Inny or an Outy? It's an Inny.

    Make it so number 1.

Here is a picture of a 9 cell if it helps you get a better idea of what it will look like, this is from cessnovember's t61.

LOL, I don't know about Inny and Outy being the terminology but I agree we do need some. How about, Extended, and Flush.

I have the 9-cell right in front of me and it does not stick out 1/4"; it sticks out right around 1" (15/16" to me more exact). The overall depth of the notebook with the 9-cell will be 11".

That is a great idea. I second the motion and call it to a vote.

OK, sorry, this is what I was told by a Lenovo rep, I probably should have specified that so it would be less credible :D

I think the problem here is people get confused by the differences between the 15.4 T61 and the 14.1 T61. I think Lenovo should of put a letter at the end of the 14.1 T61, like T61t and the 15.4 T61, the T61m.

Anyways, the 14.1 T61 has a 4 cell "inny" and 6-7 cell "outy". While the 15.4 T61 has a 6 cell "inny" and 9 cell "outy".

I find it funny using belly button terms for battery sizes though :D

    Hello --

If you are like me, you may be deciding between the T61 15" and the D830. The specs on both my configs are very similar:

I am considering both with their respective dedicated cards (128x140m on T61, 256x140m on D830), with only the batteries that won't stick out (6+3 on T61, 9+6 on D830).

Can you please post here your T61 Processor, Battery Config, and Graphics, and what you were doing during the battery life test.

This will be a huge help.

    Thank you very, very much!!
