T61 15.4" Delayed due to...

I called today, there is a 20 business day wait because they are out of 15.4" screens, that's retarded. I don't understand how a big company like this can't keep simple screens in stock or at least order them in time to re-supply their stock. I'm a little disappointed but the T61 (in sig) is the fastest Thinkpad I could have bought and I am looking so forward to it!!

 

Don't believe what rep told you. I was told mine would not be shipped until the next. However, I got a shipping notice and my T61 is in Incheon, Korean as of 8:20AM today.

No he went in and looked, additionally the original ship date was the 21st, looked first thing this morning and now it is the 20th of July, I better get a freebie email!

 

That's a bunch of bs, I ordered mine on 6/14 with the 15.4 WSXGA+ and it shipped yesterday... there's no way they're out of these screens you ordered yours way before these people getting their 15.4s shipped...

 

Aspekt9, great to hear that man and I appreciate your condolences. When you get your T61 let me know, I have a couple questions regarding it and first off, LMK where your Headphone and Mic. Jacks are. Thanks again and hopefully Lenovo resolves this because as you guys can tell, thats not a cheap system and I shouldn't be receiving service like this with a Thinkpad that costs over $2500.

 

The headphone jack is on the left hand side of the macihne about one third of the way in (PCMCIA slot is first, then a vertical USB port, then the headphone jack).

 

Along with the mic jack I assume?

What was your complaint? I can't see how they're screwing you over, if anything they are only shooting themselves in the foot by giving in-accurate information and crappy pre-sales support but it's exactly that - pre sales support. You haven't done any business with them yet. You can easily go with another company until they've shipped your laptop.

 

I actually read an article a couple of months back about LCD monitors, and how there will be a shortage in specific notebook and desktop sizes, 15.4" included, around this time. So with that in mind, yes i can believe they're out of stock.

I configured a T61 15.4" in another post and its ship date was 7/18 which is 28 days from now. So it makes sense that it's delayed 20 days because I assume it would only take 8 normally assuming no parts shortages.
