I know there are already a few shipping threads, but I have seen only a few posts from people who have ordered the mysterious T61 15.4" models (as far as I know noone has any hands-on experience yet).

I ordered one on 06/06/07, and my ESD is 07/02/07. If anyone receives their T61 15.4" models, post here!

PS: I'll post an Ubuntu Feisty T61 compatibility review once I've worked on mine for a couple weeks!

I ordered my 15.4" on 7th June and the ESD is the independence day. I'm hoping against hope that it does arrive by that time, but I'm pretty sure that it'll be delayed till July end.

I placed my 15.4" order on June 5th. It's showing a ESD of June 29, but an email from Lenovo said it would ship "around 6.25.07, but I will be surprised if it meets either of those targets!

I really cannot understand the shipping dates thing with Lenovo. I ordered my 15.4'' T61 on June 15. The initial ESD July 6. The next two days ESD was changed to July 16. Then suddenly it was shipped on July 20. At this moment, it is sitting at my home. I am at work now :)

Well, this is my first ThinkPad but I'm really impressed so far. The entire thing feels really solid and I'm happy with the keyboard, brightness of the screen (I thought that it wouldn't be bright enough for me but even in broad daylight, everything looks good), etc. There've been lots of reviews on the case and I'll just say that I echo those. The screen is definitely wide enough to look at two full windows side by side (I tried this with Word documents). No BSODs yet (knock on wood) but I don't have any of the known culprits on mine (I have XP, no Turbo memory, no dock). Battery life seems to be around 6 hours for a 9 cell when doing normal things (surfing the internet, listening to music). The biggest thing to me so far is how quiet it is. I'm going from a 5 year old Dell Dimension desktop to this and it really amazes me how little noise there is.

It did come with a ridiculous amount of bloatware but I used the base administrator software or whatnot to clean it up and it now boots up in a minute or so. I've read lots of complaints about this computer but I haven't encountered any of them in the four hours that I've been playing on this thing.

That's about it...I'm not sure what else to post but feel free to ask for any specifics.

I can't tell you how dim it is yet because there's nowhere dark enough to try it out but I'll get back to you later tonight. :)

Sounds great man, I ordered one on the 31st (in sig) and I can't wait to get it!! I'm also surprised that you got yours before I did, leave it to Lenovo I guess. Can you comment a little about the screen case seeing you have the 15.4" which is the one I am waiting for, is it solid, does it feel cheap? Thanks man and welcome to the forums!

Heh, I was actually one of the 5/9-5/24 people but luckily, I called to change some stuff which required a totally new order. I had no idea about the delay at the time.

Overall, it feels really solid but I did notice that there's some flex in the plastic right where the screen starts. I can definitely feel the magnesium roll cage under the outer case. The screen itself is just a normal screen but I think that the case will be able to withstand quite a bit.

How does this "administrative software" work? I have one on a UPS truck now that I will need to strip down on arrival.

Could you post some pictures? That would be great.

    Also,

    1. If you have a weight scale handy would you be able to weigh it?
    2. Where is the sd card slot located?

    Thanks in advance.

received my T61 today. Booted right up and have not had any bsod issues. One nice thing I thought was not on the machine (I didn't see in the specs) is a 1394 connector on the front edge next to the wireless on/of switch.
box feels pretty well built , typical ibm keybd - vista will take some getting used to. nice box so far.

Responses to questions in chronological order:

I tried out the keyboard light and it does what it's supposed to. I guess it could be brighter but it's good enough that I can see the keys in a relatively dark room. I'd compare the conditions to that of a plane when the lights are dimmed.

The base administrator software is basically a nifty program that you can get off of Lenovo's website that makes getting rid of the bloatware on your computer relatively easy. It allows you to choose which programs are installed when you do a restore from the recovery partition. More info here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=127358

My digital camera is currently charging so I should be able to get some shots up within the next hour or two. I don't know what a SD Card is but I looked it up on Google and I think that I don't have it. I'll get pics of the side so you can see because I have no idea. I don't have a scale at my house but I would estimate that, with the 9 cell battery, it's about 7-8 lbs.

I am impressed with the build quality. There is a noticable difference in how the top feels compared to the bottom but it's not bad. The top just has sort of the velvety texture of the stoneage ThinkPads (1995 maybe?).

Is the 15.4" supposed to come with the 65W AC adapter or the 90W?

I received both my original (canceled) order and my new notebook today. Original was ordered on 06/10, shipped on 06/20; the new was ordered on 06/18, shipped 06/22.

I called again to cancel my order and the person I talked to seemed to imply that it was already cancelled (which it was) but it wasn't taken offline. This could possibly be why it took some people days for it to be taken offline. One person was saying that you shouldn't accept "a couple days" as an answer, but maybe they cancel it right away but it takes a few days to go offline?
