    For a 15.4" screen, you will definitely want to have WSXGA!

    WXGA = 1280x800
    WSXGA = 1440x900

    The text will definitely be readable - WXGA is often used on smaller 12-14" screens, so for a 15.4" laptop I would highly recommend going for WSXGA.

    I don't think you can get a 15.4 with a resolution of 1440X900 (WXGA+???), this resolution is only available on 14.1 models. Its either WXGA, or WSXGA+, which is 1680X1050.

    And definitely go with the higher resolution, WXGA is too low of a resolution and leaves icons and font too large, and lacks detail. Icons and font can always be made larger without losing detail on a higher resolution panel.

    The WSXGA+ display is definitely better with more pixels and larger desktop size. The trade off is a higher dpi that makes small fonts harder to read. If comes down to personal preference, but if you have average vision then you will be fine.

    The 15.4" WSXGA+ displays available on ThinkPads have 1680x1050 resolution.

    Generator: My bad, I confused WXGA+ with WSXGA, but actually it is available on 15" laptops too. Dell offers it on their XPS m1530. You get to choose between 1280x800, 1440x900, and 1920x1200. Funny how they don't have 1650x1050..

    Yeah, lots of other manufacturers use 1440X900 on 15.4" screens. It looks nice on the MBP's in my opinion.

    The Lenovo website has poor descriptions of which screen resolutions are offered on which screen sizes, so that certainly doesn't make the options any more clear.

    IMO, I wouldn't want a 15.4" without at least a wsxga+ screen - I'd just get a 14.1" and save some weight and space.
