Hi Could anybody tell me if i can upgrade to a better resolution...i've heard you can...reason being i need more space...and this matte screen is incredibly difficult to view on the train with the sun shinning through the window..how ppl recommend matte screens is beyond logic.

Also i like to share a little story...dunno how this happened...maybe a glitch in the display generic driver before i downloaded the right one..Anyway in my slider resolution i had a about 10 different options!! i could make the windows so small that i couldnt see em! i dont wear glasses btw. I wish i could do that again...so i dont have to upgrade. Anybody experience this phenomenon???
Anway thats how i come to the conclusion that my graphics card must support a higher res.

I need more space for music software..such as cubase.

    would this work?
    IBM LENOVO T60 T60P 15.4" WSXGA+ LCD PANEL SCREEN 13N7020

    Thanks

How do you mean difficult to view? It's too dark?

The CCFL lamp in your T61 will age and dim with time. Matte or glossy, how well the screen holds up in sunlight is mostly dependent on how powerful the backlight is.

The T61 can take up to a 1920x1200 panel. If you were able to increase resolution above native, it meant the driver was scaling down; everything would've been a lot blurrier.

well yeah...the screen is too washed out when a slight bit of sunlight hits the screen....it that not normal? I can't see a thing. I have to pull the curtain on the train.

Great, what model of screen im i looking for?? I saw a t60 15.4 inch on ebay wsgxa+ will this work in a t61?? or will any wsgxa+ panel work? I ask because there seems to be a lack of T61 panels on ebay in the UK

Few laptops are bright enough to deal with direct sunlight. I'd say most likely it will work, but it's hard to say without specifics. The brightness on the T60 screen isn't brighter than your T61.

Agreed, my T60 is not very bright in sunlight, indoors it's plenty bright.

If you're looking for maximum resolution, then you'll want the 1920x1200 display. The part should be interchangeable between the T61 and the W500, though I don't have any specific part numbers for you. Your X3100 should be able to drive that resolution just fine, though if you're planning on any strenuous 3D apps(games, etc) they likely won't play well at native resolution.

Here's one on Ebay, however I can't tell you for certain the total specs on the display. Still, $83USD and free shipping isn't bad at all if the display is any decent.

Edit: Whoops, I forgot the link to the panel. Silly me. :p

Some T61's came in 1920x1200, so it should work fine.

Compatibility can be iffy sometimes, but you can always call the seller out on it if it doesn't work.

still can anyone explain to me how i managed a better resolution than 1280 x800??? is it possible i already have the right screen but not the right drivers???? i mentioned this in another forum..but i recall before i updated the drivers for this computer..i was sliding the res button in graphic properties and to my suprise i managed to slide 5 more notches than i can after i updated! the window boxes and icons where so small i could see em!? i know this sounds nuts...but it did happen! could it have been some driver glitch??

is it possible i may have a capable screen already?? how can i check..?

1st display now only 1280 x 800 plug n play monitor (this is my display)
but 2nd monitor (default) has slider option to 2560 by 2048??? Is this for external use?

actually isn't the default monitor meant to be my 1st display?? confusing...

interesting...i think its something to do with intel graphic media accelertor cloning option...when attached to a external monitor...i get all resolutions to 2048 by 1536..BUT
having said that...the external monitor only capable up 1280 by 800...

Right now i have my laptop on 1440 by 900... result is..rather than the pixels getting smaller..the desktop space as got larger so i have to scroll around to the edges to see the edges of the windows...i.e taskbar not visble...solution..point mouse down and the window scolls until i get to the bottom.
Actually this is pretty cool...but why give me this option? i have a feeling it will reset by to 1280x800 when i reboot..

The screen you linked is not a Lenovo part, but a compatible. While it'll work, they're in my experience not as good as OEM LCD. This would be a new genuine LCD.
