    I have a T61 with a 2.6Ghz T7800.

I am upgrading from 3Gb of RAM to 4Gb. According to CPU-Z the CPU has a FSB speed of 800Mhz.

What is the fastest RAM that can be utilized? According to CPU-Z my DRAM Frequency is 333Hz. Would there be a benefit of upgrading both DIMMS to something faster (400Mhz?, PC6400?)?

Ie, is the current memory slower than the max allowable.

    Thanks,
    Dan

    PC2-6400 will downclock to PC2-5300.
DDR2-667 is the fastest the chipset supports.

RAM speed often depends on brand. The highest I went with my Kingstons was 231. I ran prime and I got a BSOD. My U6 was very stable at 225 with the rams. No BSOD, prime, orthos, no error.

The Infinenon I had before 1x2GB+1x1GB died at 210 and BSOD :p.

Oh, shoot. I just realised what you meant :p. Yeah, the chipset will use the RAMS as fast as it can.
