the TMD screen is terrible I can't believe the crappy quality of this screen my LG 15.4 is much better than this screen. Also the GPU is not as fast as a 8600GT, my scores are on par with that dell 1330 that was reviewed.

I do have the same exact screen. I said in another thread, for what I compared it to, I thought it was nice. I does what I need it to. I think the contrast could be better as well as the verticle viewing angles. The only light bleed I see is at the very bottom and top of the LCD, just slightly glowing though the edges during an all black screen. The only time I notice it is during start up. Messing with some brightness/contrast/gamma settings I think I am looking at a pretty nice screen, but I am not the most qualified person to speak on laptop screens.

My benchmarks can be found in the benchmark thread. My windows experiences was pretty similar to yours.

Just FYI The windows experience numbers are quoted by windows as being somewhat faulty.

braddd, I think ealier you mentioned one dead pixel on your screen? Is it still there? My "moving stuck pixel" is still visiting me every now and then, in various positions. I am, however, am not aware of any leak problem on my screen (TMD, too).

For starters, the screen looks terrible at different angles, the high brightness setting barely suffices in a dark room. This is a pretty crappy screen, I have seen better on 300 dollar notebooks (GQ). I expected more from Lenovo especially with the t61P series. I am curious about the Samsung screen if its any better.

It only ever showed itself during the pixel test at http://www.gdargaud.net/Hack/DeadPixels.html

And its still there when I run one of those tests. I don't see it otherwise though. It is weird that you have a moving stuck pixel. A stuck pixel is a defect in manufacturing, so for it too move around would not be normal. Does it always move to a different spot or does it always show up in the same exact pixels? Its not any moisture under the screen right, or dust? Sometimes its easy to mistake dust as a dead pixel, when I first opened my T61 there was dust on the screen and I ran the test and saw like 15 dead pixels! Then I realized it was dust.

Can you possibly run PC Wizard 2007 and see what it model or manufacturer number it reads out for the LCD sometimes the FRU numbers are incorrect..

If it is LTD141EN9B then it is TMD.

This guy at thinkpads.com seems to think the TMD SXGA+ LCD is much better looking then his T41p

No, it's definitely not dust, because using that same dead pixel test, it displays different color depending on whether I click on "Black & White", or "Blue & Yellow", or.... I don't see it move. It's just there is always just ONE such pixel on the screen, sometimes here, sometimes there, usually white on dark screen. Very mysterious!

TMD = Toshiba and Matsushi-ta Display (guess why I use a hyphen there ;) )

a description with just the hyphenated portion would be a more apt description for the quality of this screen

What 3dmark06 and pcmark05 scores do you get? So that we can compare it to the NVS 140m scores posted earlier. Also, what clock speeds is your GPU running at?
