I was wondering if Lenovo has set a release date for either a 14 or 15.4 inch 4:3 option for the T61. Will their screens also be off centered? Thanks for the information.

The standard 14" screen T61 is only available through the link in the referenced thread.
Who knows why not through the main site...
I'm still waiting for the T61p in the 4:3 format to be released.
I'm not sure if we'll ever see one though.

What would happen if we place order from that site? Did anybody try?

I have a few more questions... Will the 14 inch 4:3 be the only option, or will there be a 15.4 inch option? What is the difference between a t61p and a t61?

Except for priority corporate custom orders, it will not be available with the IPS screen anymore. Only with the lousy TN screens.

I'd rather have the lowest-spec T6x with an IPS screen than the highest-spec T6x with a TN panel.

Too bad IPS is getting so hard to find, because all the good glass is going to HDTV makers for more money.

The 14.1" standard screen models do exsit and is called "Da Vinci 3" inside Lenovo. But it won't be available until August. At that time, it should be released publicly and catch up the homecoming sales for students.

    I wouldn't mind
I noticed that on Lenovo site they recommend Vista, but on that other site it's XP. Doesn't anyone have any idea/guess what could be the thinking?

My understanding is that anyone can purchase through the site.
    Can anyone confirm?

Somebody has already reported his account has been locked out after ording T61 4:3 model using that link. Read this thread:

As far as I know, Lenovo or any other companies may verify your student information with schools, so don't take a risk. You can always get what you want and even got better price after it is released on Lenovo's website.
