You will find on Lenovo.com now. I didn't think it would ever happen but it looks like they decided to keep the 4:3 ratio around for the T series a while longer. Price configurations are higher than I expected.
No T61p 4:3 is configuration is available yet.
-
Thanks!
They are under 14" T61s... -
I found a 4:3 T61p on the Education site through Higher Education in my state.
Still, not available on the consumer website. -
They aren't cheap.... with a base price of $1405 and $1505 for Intel or Nvidia graphics respectively...
-
-
Some sign of more options screen for the T61p
thanks for the information -
the price difference would be about 100bucks. kinda thinking of canceling my order to get this one
-
-
Isn't that grand...the day I receive my T61 after 3 weeks of waiting, Lenovo decides to release the 4:3 regular aspect I was pining for. B@stards! The only benefit for me is that I saved 680 dollars with the SPP, Fatwallet, July discount code, and Tailormade for a similarly configured 4:3 T61.
-
-
Yeah, sub $700 T 61 is still a deal. But playmaker, have you ever had a "red twinkie"?
-
-
Oh, yeah that sucks. I wouldn't pay any more for it unless it was a better screen not just different format.
-
-
I prefer SXGA+ for things like Office and Internet, but it ain't worth that kind of a premium to me. Kind of glad I picked up my R60 when I did for $850.
-
Any explanations as to why more than one or two Lenovo reps lied on the phone telling us 4:3 T61 "will not be introduced"?
-
$500 more expensive??? Are they on crack?
-
Doesn't seem to be like anyone lied, seems like it was a late addition:

No Thinkpad 11a/b/g/n available for the 4:3 T61 here. Is that important?
-
T61 4:3 $1870.26 vs T61 15.4 $1500.02 (both w/EPP)
Same configuration. I can't justify the price. Also, who knows when it will ship! Classes start in 4 weeks for me... -
I too was holding out a long time for a T61 4:3. After finding a new T60 2623-D6U for $850.00, I decided that I really did not need the latest and greatest improvements in T61 hardware.
Still, in the back of my mind I wondered if I would regret not waiting for the T61. Now I have the answer: no regrets at all especially after seeing the pricing on the T61. No doubt it should be a great machine. But for approaching twice the price w/ shipping and taxes, I'm loving the deal I got on the T60. I should be quite satisfied w/ this for a few years. -
You must've created a baby T61p!
-

-
-
BUT, he said they will probably not ship till the end of the month. So be ready to wait for these. -
Conspiracy indeed.
But just to be on the safe side, does anyone have Oliver Stone's number? -
If Lenovo are just reusing the old supply of the 150-185 nit screens, then the price premium over the newer and brighter wide aspect ones makes it a horrible deal. -
well they just dropped their prices to roughly 100bucks above the widescreen versions
-
crap, I wish they'd stop messing around with prices. Now I have to reorder.
-
-
unhooked are you going to order one? or have you already ordered something else
-
I haven't.
The 4:3 T61 look very tempting though. -
Does the protection services include warranty, since there is only 1-year warranty available?
Also, no one is concerned there's no 11a/b/g/n ? -
More questions:
Do you think they'll ever improve the T61 battery so that:
1. Batteries have longer life (as T60)
2. 6-cell batteries will not stick out (again as T60)
? -
There's Intel a/b/g/n available on the 8891 model I configured. No Atheros option, however, perhaps due to the long delays that would create.
Both 8891 and 8897 models only offer joint warranty/protection exptensions (no warranty-only extension, which sucks). I ordered an 8889 model that has a standard 3-year warranty and no protection.
6-cell batteries do not stick out on the 4:3 models but the 9-cell versions do. No idea on battery life. -
-
The Intel AGN is the same as ABGN (it's the intel 4965, not the Atheros "Thinkpad" card, however). According to Intel's site...
The Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN product is an embedded 802.11a/b/g/Draft N¹ PCIe* Mini Card network adapter card that operates in both the 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz spectrum, delivering high throughput and a host of features that enhance today's mobile lifestyle. -
Thanks a lot for the helpful info!
Before anyone places order, I suggest you call them up to make sure this is not yet another pricing glitch (and let us know). -
I am stupid!!!
I should have waited for it.Now I have a crappy 14" WS, audiojacks on the front and a protuding 6 cell battery and not enough vertical working space -o-
-
14.1" SXGA+ is good but expensive. Thinking about the money you could save, I will select 14.1" WXGA+ version.
-
Hi Upstair! You Should Change Your Mind Now! Lenovo Just Have A Huge Price Down.
-
I like price downs
-
the price down is not as juicy as the back to school ones
sigh... -
The price for the standard screens seems to have fallen throughout the day.
Earlier, I configured a 14.1" SXGA+ system for $1,234, with a 1 Yr Depot Warranty, exclusive of taxes, coupons, cash backs, etc.
A similarly configured widescreen (currently without the +) was priced about $130 less. -
I ordered an 8889 on 7/21 using the 10% coupon and the same configuration today was $120 less even without the additional 10% off. It's crazy. Just goes to show the coupons are a big con when "sale" prices yo-yo around like this.
-
Yeah, can't just count on the coupons, especially when they are just %'s off vs $ amounts. Have to compare bottom lines. Keep an eye on those price-down's.
-
I recheck the price of my configuration every day... and will do until 21 days after my order actually ships
-
T61 4:3 standard ratio finally released on Lenovo.com
