Well maybe fear a little. I got my T61 today from PC Connection, it actually came with the turbo memory even though the product website didn't say as much.
As was previously stated in another thread, initial performance is very lacking, due to the tremendous amount of processes running. I was going to leave 32-bit Vista ultimate on there and simply try to remove everything I didn't need, but it became too much of a burden.
I clean installed Windows Vista Enterprise 64-bit, and after a few hours getting all the right software and drivers (I had to modify an nvidia driver to get it to install the NVS 140M), the machine runs like a beauty. It is Truly faster than any other laptop I've ever used. Every device works, every piece of needed software runs great.
I'm going to post a clean install guide in the next couple days, as well as a guide to getting gentoo running on a separate partition.

Glad to here your machine is running well.
I've seen very little about actual real life performace with the NVS 140M and I'd love to get some feedback.
I've read comparisons and seen benchmarks, but if you play any games, please let me know how the performance is. -
A clean install guide will be much appreciated. Mine should be getting to me in the next few weeks, and then I will have to start prepping it. Unfortuneatly I am not the most computer saavy person.

oh....my....god....you read my mind! (with the gentoo, that is)
I'm planning on having either XP pro + gentoo, or vista ultimate + gentoo....i'll decide later...
on a similar topic (don't mean to steal your thread)...does anyone know if it's possible to get a thinkpad with no OS or only linux installed? (I saw something about SLED on lenovo's website....) Hopefully, I can cut down prices this way. -
don't mind my noob question but
you getting all of your software working OK on the 64 bit OS? -
And Thanks for the review, keep us posted...

Would it be possible for you to post the 3dmark 05 score. Thanks.

Every time I see this thread I forget that you ordered from PC Connection and think someone got theirs from Lenovo. But alas... I am wrong... and so I keep waiting.
