Ok, so my T61 finally arrived. It's sweet. Just a couple of odd/ annoying things:

1)I have the 100 GB HD and it says I have 89 GB with 69 GB Available. WTF?

2)Battery does not fit completely flush...there's a little play. I got the 7 cell.

3)Tons of bloatwear. I have Vista Business, and there are like 12 things in the taskbar. Boo

    4) I ordered the 3 year Depot warranty and when I checked on the Lenovo website it said I only had the standard 1 year!

I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have.

    1. the recovery partition take around ~9GB.
    2. Only the 4cell fit flush.
    3. You can use Base Software Administrator.
    4. It takes about a week to update the system.

    2) by flush I mean where it joins the computer. Not flush size wise. There is wiggle room between the laptop and the battery.
3)been looking for it. no luck
    4)sweet thanks.

Here's a link to the base software administrator. I don't know if anyone here has used it. If you figure it out, feel free to post a guide. I'm still waiting for my T61.

Don't forget that on any hard drive you can only expect to get a little over 90% of the space that it actually says it has...ie my 30gb ipod only has like 27.5 and my 320 external drive only has around 290.

How much battery life are you getting, and which video card did you get?

    2) Battery slop is normal on laptops with batteries mounted on the edge. Every laptop I have owned with an "edge" battery will have a bit of play in it.

The only ones that are less prone to this are the ones where the battery sinks into an interior area, but these are many times not easily upgradable and still can wiggle around.

I havent done any battery life tests yet. I have the integrated graphics and the 7 cell battery.

I bought a 100 GB HD and with only vista installed it says i have 69 GB left. thats less than 70%

Plus I cant get the camera to work.

Otherwise, its amazing. Fast, awesome keyboard. Great screen (not very bright on battery). A bit heavier and bigger than i anticipated, so im gonna buy the x61 soon too.

First off with any hard drive Manufacturers say that a GB is 1000mb and not 1024mb. As the drives get bigger, they essentially get smaller because of this. Additionally, there is a rescue partition on the HD that I would feel is about 10gb so that accounts for about 20gb of that and then Vista, is huge, is the other 10.

Quick question, what is the build quality like, does the screen cover feel strong, how's Vista Aero with the X3100 and have you gotten any BSODs?

Thanks, Im just excited to get mine which is in my sig!

Build quality is a 7/10. The screen still has some flex, and when the cover is closed there isnt a great latching closure. One side seems weaker. The IBM logo on the outside of mine is not well placed (whatever.)

Aero Looks good, mind you I have no idea what it's supposed to look like. But stuff is transparent, colors are better. To be honest, if you are not playing games/ CAD/ heavy video editing, there is absolutely no reason to get the Nvidia card. This Intel is MUCH better than its predecessor.

No BSOD for me. I have Vista Business/ turbo mem/ with active protection enabled. No issues.

BTW, Amazingly fast startup/ shutdown times. This thing BLAZES.

I have similar hard drive problem I noticed recently. the total size is 87GB, but it says I only have about 3-4 GB free, which is strange. I used an external and all I moved here is about 30 GB worth of data, not 80.

Great combination! I heard that the 140m has a huge impact on battery life. It is powerful; however, everyone has said that the x3100 will run Vista Aero just fine.

I would like to ask whether you can tell us what the estimated time remaining is, as reported by Vista, at 100% charge on your 7 cell?

    Thanks!
