I know that there was a thread on a BSOD on the T61 that was floating around a week or so ago. The faulting call for the crash was iaStor+a44f. I had that same issue myself about 4 or 5 times yesterday, so I did some research and found an updated driver for iastor.sys. It seems to have resolved the issue for me.
The link to the new driver is http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=1809. Hopefully this will help others.
-
When you click on that link it just gives the generic download center for Intel. Perhaps you can give the exact name of the file and a description of how to navigate from the link you provided.
-
When I click it, I get the Intel Matrix Storage Technology driver page. Once I select my OS, I see the driver.
-
Is there some way we can tell what version we have installed on our T61's?
And why doesn't Software Updater update this file when we run it? -
I still don't see anything called "iastor.sys"
-
That's just one file in the entire driver package. You can't download the file separately.
-
Sure. You can check the file version of the driver file. (iastor.sys)
System Update only updates files supplied by Lenovo. This is an Intel driver. -
Didn't fix it here. :s
-
I just got the first BSOD mentioning iastor.sys
Uninstalling the who Matrix Storage ****? It doesn't do anything.. -
I know what is causing this bsod....
goto the express memory utility and disable both readyboost and the other one..... its going to ask you for a restart...
viola.... no more bluescreens.....
u might as well remove the card..... I'm sure it takes some electricity.

Yeah, everyone knows a not working solution.
I removed the Maxtrix Storage **** and now I can't acces the Turbo Memory Console.
Guess that's gonna be an reformat. -
lowspeed,
What did you decide on yours - keeping it or sending it back? -
I'm Shipping it back... There's some stuff that i didn't even mention on this forum like the HD stopping and resuming (probably a energy saving feature) but i wish i could disable it from doing that.
There are clicking sounds at times from the speakers (and no i'm not talking about normal sound clicks)
I'm disappointed it didn't come with firewire even though the places i read (official lenovo, claimed that it did)
There's seems to be a color problem (another thread) you can see the comparison with a dell external screen and an old T23 here:

It doesn't always reconnect to the wireless network after hibernation. (pretty annoying)
With the 7200rpm drive the right side under the palm gets too warm.
I expected better performance.
I may order again if i know they fixed these issues.
On the plus side, i think the LCD roll cage does work.
oh and good news... i just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance.

How you do mean "no firewire"? It has a mini firewire port on the fronside, on the left.
Harddrive being resumed might be a powersaving setting. I have it sometimes enabled at my desktop too. I think that it just a good hided option somewhere in the maze called "Vista" -
its definitely an intel driver that is causing the issue. My problem was fixxed after I downloaded the chipset driver using system update 3. i didnt have to disable readyboost.
-
I got the 4:3 T61. instead of a firewire it came with IR.
-
Wow, that's great. I wish I would have IR instead of 1394
