Here's the specs I'm leaning towards

    T61
    14.1" WXGA+
    T7500
    nvs M140
    hdd: 5400 rpm

    with a 6 or 7 cell battery

    ----------

workload: light internet (wifi), word processing, outlook

    screen dimmed at 70-80%

    ----------

This is what I usually do on my current hp laptop dv6113us, but I get horrible battery life because it's AMD.

I just want to know how long I will be able to work on the T61 doing what I described above on a 6 or 7 cell battery.

Here's a thread with exactly what you're looking for.

I myself get around 3 hours with level one screen brightness.

I think the 3-3.5 hour range is pretty average though a lot would depend on various factors. If you want a notebook with long battery life, the Dell D630 especially with the modular battery life might be worth a look as well.

3-3.5 hours should be good enough for me. Anything over the 0.5 hr I'm getting out of my hp dv6113 is good.
