I've been searching online for a few weeks now. I've updated the BIOS, got all the latest drivers. Still getting this problem several times a wekk.

The T61 is in my advanced dock, I've got an external samsung monitor connected via DVI, and a microsoft mouse and ergo keyboard. I have the computer set to sleep after an hour of no use. Normally, when I turn it on in the morning, it pops right up, but as mentioned, a few times a week at least, it clearly shut down and has to re-boot. I get the below error:

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.1
    Locale ID: 1033

    Additional information about the problem:
    BCCode: 9f
    BCP1: 00000003
    BCP2: 851C6030
    BCP3: 851C6030
    BCP4: AE7245C8
    OS Version: 6_0_6001
    Service Pack: 1_0
    Product: 256_1

Files that help describe the problem:
    C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini012909-01.dmp
    C:\Users\Bxxx\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-28496063-0.sysdata.xml
    C:\Users\Bxxx\AppData\Local\Temp\WER7528.tmp.version.txt

I did a clean install per the instructions from this forum when I got the computer in 2007, so there really shouldn't be much bloatware, I don't have any of the thinkvantage software beyond the fingerprint reader and I think the on-screen display. The computer NEVER crashes on sleep or hibernate when its not in the dock, so there's gotta be something going on with the dock/external monitor/mouse/keyboard.

I've searched and searched, I've tried the various suggestions, and its still happening. If anyone has any clues as to what might be going on, or can point me in the direction of someone who had and has solved this problem, I'd really really appreciate it.

Don't know if it is necessary but I've got:

    Vista Ultimate 32bit
    T7300 2.00GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    2.5GB of RAM

Fully up to date from windows update for all important updates.

    Thanks in advance!

You seem to be on vista sp1, so I recommend you try older gpu drivers: www.laptopvideo2go.com

    When did this problem start?

I have had ongoing problems that clearly are related to sleeping or hibernating and the advanced mini dock. I have three desks in three locations, each with a dock. I typically would put the computer to sleep, eject it from the dock, put in on the new dock, and power up. On a regular basis the computer either would have gone dead on the undock or redock, or would start to boot from the sleep state and then BSOD. I have largely resolved the issue--but only by undocking the computer each time before I put it to sleep. Since I have started doing that, I have not had one BSOD in the sleep/wake process, whereas I used to get at least 3-5 a week. I do, occasionally, still find that the computer goes dead when I put it on the dock, but this occurs far less than the BSODs I used to get.

Typically the BSOD would be accompanied by an error message referencing USBSCAN.SYS. I also find that I have ongoing USB issues, where the T61 either won't recognize USB devices or starts a constant cycle of finding a new device and then finding that a USB device has stopped working. These USB problems generally can be solved only by a reboot--and sometimes that reboot is accompanied by a crash.

My guess is that there is an issue between the USB and the dock that is causing the problems, but I am at a loss as to what it is. This is my second T61P and the problem seems common to both. The problem is not OS specific, as my first T61p ran Vista 32, which I switched to XP thinking the problem was Vista related, but with no improvements. My second T61P runs Vista 64, and I subsequently reconfigured the first T61p with Vista 32. I have had the issue with each laptop with each OS.
