So I am having difficulty with my bluetooth. I am running vista and I can connect my HTC phone to bluetooth, but when I go into the control panel and try to open bluetooth configuration panel it says " Bluetooth device not found... be sure it is turned on. It clearly is on, because I can connect my phone. Under the diagnotics tab, it says the device is turned off or not installed properly or it may not be operational. The three bluetooth devices in device manager all appear to have the most update drives.

is your phone on discoverable mode?

My phone is discoverable and I can connect and send files to it, but it won't work with windows mobile device center. Also, there are two seperate bluetooth icons in the taskbar, only one of which will work. The other one states that the bluetooth device is disabled or off when I click on it.

some phones dont have all the bluetooth functionality that others do...maybe all you can do is send files. But I'm not sure.

No the issue has something to do with a driver or vista not recogonizing the lenovo/broadcom bluetooth radio. The Tinkvantage software detects the bluetooth radio and can turn it on, but vista seems to think nothing is installed or that it is off, when it is in fact on and can connect to my HTC Touch. Which can do more than receive files, it should be able to active sync via bluetooth.

Hi, my name's Cody, and I'm a member of the Windows Vista Outreach team. We're always interested in helping folks with any questions or concerns they might have about Vista, so hopefully I can point you in the right direction towards solving this problem with your phone/Bluetooth connection. I'm certainly no technical expert on the subject, but I hope I can be of some help!
Youre right, it sounds like the issue might have something to do with a driver, or the devices compatibility with Vista. A good place for you to start might be by looking at Microsoft's new Windows Vista Compatibility Center, which you can find at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/Default.aspx You can do a comprehensive search there to make sure that your specific devices are compatible with Vista. This site should also provide you with links where you can get the most recent drivers for your hardware if they need to be updated.
Let me know if this is of any help to you, and if you are still having trouble, Ill see if there are any other options we can look at to try and get everything running smoothly for you.
Thanks,
Cody
