Have a new T60P and I'm not thrilled with it for several reasons
1. Battery life is terrible. The ATI Card probably does not help and to be honest, I only use it for business reasons so I don't need the extra video speed (note I am lucky to get close to 3 hours on this with just normal work) - my old 14" Tecra goes over 4 hours with the extended battery. Yes, I have the 9 cell battery on the T60P.
2. The wireless is the worst I've ever seen. Sure it sees a lot of hotspots, but connecting and staying connected it not easy. And once it looses connection, all the wireless hotspots go away and you have to reboot. I should have gone with the Intel wireless as opposed to the Atheros.
3. While I enjoy the screen realestate, this baby is big (have the 15.4 wide). Also the fonts are a bit weird with the 1680x1050 resolution - some Windows fonts look fine, others are oversized (font size is set to normal).
So I was thinking about picking up a T61 and letting an employee use this one. I'd get the Intel graphics card and the Intel wireless and go with the 14.1 WXGA+ screen. The sale made me really think this was a deal...
However, I see that the 14.1 WXGA+ screen is not available at this time, and the sale only applies to the standard 14.1 monitor. Worse I read that people here were not impressed with the 14.1 Wide Screen......
So my questions are...
1. Anybody here have the 14.1 wide and wish you had gotten the regular 4:3 size?
2. How's the battery life on the T61 with 14.1 or 14.1 Wide and the 7 cell battery?
3. Should I just go with another 15.4 WSXGA+ T61 and get the Intel video and Intel wireless.
Any other thoughts?
Thanks in advance!
