Hey, forgive me if I'm ignorant and hypochondriacal about my new T61. But can anyone tell me what this sound is?

    planet-zero.org/~bighaugs/cpufan.wma

It seems to be a buzzing or beeping sound whenever the CPU fan (?) spins up when I'm on battery power in Vista. I only get it when the fan starts (when the CPU warms up, like when I run several programs). Is this a normal fan sound? I don't think it's a PC speaker sound... You'll hear me click around for a few seconds, then the sound I mean. I also get it when I first start the machine up.

Let me know if you know!

i thitnk there was a guy on here that had a wire that wasnt installed right and it would tap on the fan. you can open it up quite easily if you are comfortable doing so, otherwise, itll have to go back to lenovo

That's weird i had that noise too....

That's why it was so annoying when the HD spun down and back up...

The beep happens when the HD starts spinning again.
