I just received an email this morning from lenovo stating that my order is now delayed from 1 to 30 days. I thought I was making a good decision ordering from them but now I am sort of starting to regret it. I know a few other people on this forum ordered the same time I did (5/9) and had the same estimated shipping date (5/28) I would like to know if their order also got delayed. I also read on another thread something about a shortage of nvidia cards, that doesn't matter because mine had integrated graphics. I don't need my laptop anytime soon, but it's just the principle of the matter. Maybe I should cancel and get something different.

So goes it when buying brand new hardware. Always an adventure. -
I ordered mine on 5/11 and still have a shipping date of 5/30. I have no doubt in my mind that once tomorrow passes the shipping date will be pushed back. If people who had earlier ship dates than me haven't recieved them why would I be the exception.
Lenovo is not dealing with this properly. They're setting themselves up for failure by not informing customers why they're computers are being delayed. Be upfront with your customers...they obviously knew last week that my computer wouldn't be getting shipped on time. They should send emails out explaining the reason for the delay, whether it be a shortage of part or a bug with the systems being created. Don't wait until after the estimated shipping date to send out an email saying your shipment is delayed and not give a reason.
Maybe I should've went with the HP dv. It would've been a few hundered less and I would've already had it in my hands. -
I've been hearing a LOT about Levono laptops being delayed for long periods of time. I'd give them a call.
-
jimco, they will run around the issue with you. I called on friday trying to find out an update on my system besides the "in process" status and they don't tell you anything. If you have the august shipping date I don't know, but I'm sure they have some canned response.
-
I just bit the bullet and ordered from PC Connection before all of you swarm over there and they run out. The only thing I gave on was that I got a T7300 instead of a T7500 (probably a better choice), a 5400rpm instead of 7200rpm (oh well), and I gave up the Intel Turbo Memory. I figure I can get the 7200HD drive (isn't that what they call it?) when it releases and fix both of those with likely better performance. Also getting a 6-cell instead of 7-cell, but that's okay.
PC Connection will ship it today and I'll have it tomorrow. I did have to pay for Vista Ultimate Edition even though I've already got it, but no biggie.
Now I just need to cancel my Lenovo order and I'll be set. I feel a little hypocritical since I said yesterday that people were overreacting, but today's developments with delays from Lenovo make me worry that it won't be getting better anytime soon. -
There are a whole slew of options now that, if selected, say they will delay your shipment. They may as well just say that if you select a computer, it will delay your computer.
I was on hold on the chat tool and number 1 in queue to cancel my order. I waited at number 1 for about 45 minutes and then dropped. I immediately reconnected and now it says I'm at number 18 in the queue. Seems like Lenovo's having a few issues.
I'm glad I'm not answering phones at Lenovo today! I imagine that some people are probably going to be upset with them. -
So around when should i expect the computer that i ordered on 5/13?
-
I don't know, I got such a good deal on the thing, even the recent sales are more expensive then what I payed. Like I said before I think I would like the notebook a great deal, I don't need it anytime soon. I would definitely like it before I go back to college at the end of august. The only other thing I am considering is canceling my T61 order and ordering the Dell XPS m1210, that or maybe an X60
-
I don't think anyone could answer your question except to say that it won't be anytime soon. -
jmwein, 2-3 weeks about. Was just told by lenovo sales rep that t61's have been "rejected by the factory". She said they were going to try and resolve the problem and that once they do it'll take 2-3 weeks. She said "it could be shorter but I can't say that for sure." By the sound of it I'd be surprised if I recieved my laptop by july 1st.
-
Where can I find a copy of the Lenovo internal memo?
-
If someone's on hold in front of me in the queue, can I give you my order number so you can cancel for me?
-
"Hi team,
Please be advised that the August esd's on the new T61 orders are incorrect.
These systems should have a 2 to 3 week ship eta.
We are working to fix this issue asap.
Thanks! " -
-
I don't understand...if there is a problem with them than what about the people who already received their T61's? Did they get lemons?!?!?
-
it'll takes a few days for them to get confirmation from the warehouse to confirm your cancellation, they'll be able to cancel your order as long as they haven't shipped it. in this situation, you shouldn't have a problem, jus tneed to wait for their warehouse to comeback with an assurance that it hasn't been shipped. that's what happened to me last week when i tried to cancel.
-
What if I already received my docking station? I haven't opened the box yet in fear that something like this might happen but if I cancel my order will I be able to return that as well??
-
-
I'm sure you can return it for a full refund if it's unopened. I ordered a mini dock off ebay and a 25 ft dvi to hdmi wire. I can't return those now. My first experience with lenovo and everything has been negative so far. -
-
I guess mines on buggy waggon til 8/30. Calling them as i write.
-
I guess I'm going to call again today or tomorrow -
I'm sure it's not the first time this has happened but apple is a different case. HP has already shipped out their santa rosa latops as I'm sure other companies have as well. Lenovo messed up somewhere along the line. It has nothing to with the santa rosa chipset because these other companies would have been experiencing the same problems.
-
I just spoke with a Lenovo rep and he told me there is no reason to expect a delay with my order (that was order on the 13th). He said in the system is still shows as shipping on the 31st and nothing says otherwise. I'm hoping he's right but I'm still skeptical.
-
Lenovo must be getting swamped today with calls after the long holiday weekend. I had to hold almost 30 minutes before talking to someone.
Here is the scoop:
There is a bug on the website with the expected delivery dates, but they probably won't be corrected until the notebook actually ships out. Once it ships then the date will change and the tracking information should be there.
Now the BAD NEWS. The sales rep has confirmed there are delays with the T61. Today they received an email from the supply manager confirming there is a delay due to an internal part that was on backorder. They're expecting the part to come in by June 2nd and then laptops will go into production for building them. At the earliest laptops won't ship out until June 4th.
Also some may have noticed certain options are now missing from the Lenovo website. You can no longer configure a T61 with the T7700 processor or with Vista Business 64bit. I inquired about this with the sales rep and he had to do some investigating. After holding another 5 minutes he confirmed that there is a delay in the 64bit OS. It's probably due to compatibility issues since there OS has already been released from Microsoft. The sales rep thought it was because they don't have the 64bit disks to burn the image, but I doubt that. The 64bit OS has been out since January so I think there may be a compatibility issue with the drivers/software. I was given an estimate that the OS will be ready 2nd week of June.
The T7700 processor is on backorder and was confirmed with the supply manager. They're not expecting them to be in stock until the 3rd week in January. This means that a laptop I ordered on May 9th may not get delivered until late June or early July which would mean almost 2 months from my order date. Thats just INSANE.
I actually wanted to get a laptop with the built in camera so the sales rep said he could reorder it and put it on the critical list. Then after realizing there was a backorder on the processor and OS he said he couldn't even reorder the T61 with my original config because the 64bit OS and processor isn't an option anymore. -

am i the only one here who's going to stick with the order? maybe I'll get pushed to front of the line
mine still says 6/5 to ship, so if enough people cancel, and i end up getting pushed up, i may still get it on time!
-
-
I called to and confirmed that my order is still on schedule (6/5). Its configured with onboard graphics - not the NVidia
-
I think I'm going to stick with the order too. I'll try to get a discount though
-
It's not just the graphics cards that are delaying. Check out the order pages. There are a ton of components that say "Selecting this item will delay shipping." I think there's a bigger problem.
One of the earlier posts said that all T61s are stopped right now. It's likely that the rep you spoke to just didn't want another person yelling at him or her. -
The reps don't really know anything. They just see what you see: a fake shipping date. Once that date comes, an August shipping date will magically appear.
-

-
There were the same kind of long delays early last year when the T60 first came out.
I dont understand why selecting Vista delays your order... cant they just image that onto your hard drive? -
You would think all the various vista options would be images, but who knows. I highly doubt they install a unique config on each laptop they build
-
I'm on the line to cancel mine right now and I have a checkout open with PC Connection to order one with overnight shipping with almost identical specs.
Already waited 2 weeks, I'm not waiting any longer. -
I just got off the phone with a sales rep, and I asked him about the Aug. 30 dates - according to him it's a bug, and my order should ship within 2-3 weeks. I specifically asked him if there were any delays, and he said no. Quuite possible he was just saying what he knew - nothing.
I ordered mine with the NVS 140M, 2.2 ghz @ 800mhz FSB, no robson, WWAN, etc.
Dunno. -
Lenovo is falling apart today...their website isn't even working right today.
-
Mine got pushed from 6/2 till 6/8. No biggie, I"m out of town till the 13th anyway.
My guess is they just got flooded with orders since everyone else's offerings kinda suck or are even more expensive for less stuff (HP) -
I got my cancel in at lenovo (after waiting 2 weeks), and I ordered the same config (minus the turbo memory), from PC Connection and it should get here tomorrow or the day after. Never buying direct from Lenovo again :/
-
After 35 minutes on hold, I spoke with a Lenovo rep about the delays. He confirmed that the ESDs of late August are a "web-generated" bug. When I asked how long it would take to ship he said 2-3 weeks from the date ordered (5/24 for me). Finally, I asked if he knew about any recent delays in the shipping, and he said that a 5-day delay due to the LCD supply was included in the 2-3 week estimate. I honestly don't mind waiting an extra week to get this machine, considering the alternatives (are there any?).
-
wait... so there are no delays? This whole thing was just a misunderstanding? I am so confused. I never got an email about any shipping delay...
-
Just called lenovo again to ask a few questions about the dock and I ended up asking about the delay. I was told that they're back-ordered on the chassis and that my laptop should be shipped out within 10 business days.
-
-
And what if you did order it two or more weeks ago (like 5/13)?
-
This is really starting to get ridiculous now. This morning which is the day after my estimated shipping date I received an email saying that my order is delayed between 1 and 30 days. I wanted to know exactly how long and why my order was going to be delayed so I decided to call the number that was on the email. While on hold the first time after about 40 minutes my call was dropped. I am currently on hold for the second time at about 40 mins again. So much for lenovo's legendary customer support. I am notified of a delay until the day after the estimated shipping date and then I am put on hold for over an hour. If I finally get through and my order is not being shipped within one week then I am going to cancel the order and get another laptop.
