I figured I would start a thread specifically for people who have placed an order for a T61 and have shipping dates in Aug.

I've seen various posts of people who ordered the T61 over memorial day weekend and have a shipping estimate in late August. Well I ordered mine on May 9th and my original shipping date was Sept 28th.

I checked my order on their website today (the 28th) and now it shows a ship date of Aug 30th. How can it take 3.5 months to build a laptop? By that time there will be a new processor out (T7800). I'm wondering if there are problems with the T7700 processor. Did anyone notice you can't configure/build a T61 with a T7700 processor anymore?

I have read theories that the Nvidia card was causing the delay but then read another post from someone who configured a T61 with the Intel Graphics chip and they too had a delivery date in Aug.

How many others have received similar news? From doing various google searches Lenovo is notorious in delaying delivery. I think maybe the Dell D630 isn't looking like such a bad choice.

Lastly, my credit card hasn't been charged yet so I know that the order hasn't shipped yet. Some of indicated there was a bug on the lenovo site when checking the status. Even if there was a bug and my order shipped on schedule (may 28th) my credit card would have been charged.

Same exact thing happened to me. I don't know what to do. Ordered on 5/9, shipping date of 5/28, then changed to 8/30 today. No charge on credit card either. I guess there is nothing left to do but call tomorrow and cancel my order.

Guys, read around the forum. The shipping date fiasco is a bug in Lenovo's system. The estimated shipping time is still 2-3 weeks.

I believe the only way to cancel the order is to have it ship and then return it unopened within 21 days. I think once the order is processed you can't cancel it

I read about the bug in other forums, but I placed my order almost 3 weeks ago. My credit card hasnt been charged yet so I know it hasn't been built or shipped. If you go to their website to order a new T61 you will see it still indicates 1-2 weeks for delivery. I'm at 3 weeks now

Not true. Unless they've already started building the laptop, you can cancel it, just call 1-866-42-THINK.

Same exact issue as you, going to wait a couple days though, I don't need the laptop, it's just something that will make my next semester easier.

I know it barely makes sense with the formatting, but jesus h ****ing christ. This better be a glitch, or I'm returning the notebook.

Oh and look - apparently I bought both the 14.2 and the 14.1 inch screens, not to mention the extra 1 gig of ram at the bottom. This is ridiculous.

The August ship date is a confirmed bug. There are many threads about this. There is also information on the parts list in the order status page.

I think people are overreacting a bit. If you want a T61 right away, you can order from a reseller. If you want it customized, you'll have to wait for it to be built.
