Hi all, long time reader, first time poster.

I recently bought a new ThinkPad T61, with a T9300 Core2 Duo, and overall have been pretty pleased with it.

However, I've started having issues with the display switching, where my machine freezes up when I switch from the default display to my external monitor (using an analog cable to a Samsung SyncMaster 912n). It'll half switch to the new screen, then freeze up. The machine is effectively dead at that point -- numlock stops working, etc.

Has this happened to anyone else? Do I need to update a driver or something?

    thanks!

yes, you should update first windows Vista/Xp,
then start your "system update" program.
You ´ll find it under your thinkvantage tools and
    update your lenovo software.

To make your battery a long life.
First load your battery minimum 36h!! so it is fully loaded.
The unload und then again 24h loading.

My windows XP & Lenovo software are already up to date, I don't think that's the issue... Also, I'm not quite sure what this has to do with battery life?
