Right now, I'm typing on my beloved T61 which I just replaced with a W530 two weeks ago. Alas, I bit the bullet because my GPU is dying. I reseated the cables (accidentally snapped the thin bezel on the right side) to no avail. I know it is this crappy GPU. I purchased this is April 2008, so it was before the fix.
Do they have a "fixed" GPU on eBay? Anyway to tell?

T61/p with nVidia GPU is the last laptop I'd ever buy from eBay.
If you need a board, you may want to post a WTB (want to buy) ad in the TPF's Marketplace:

There are quite a few honest and reliable sellers there, which is a *lot* more than one could say about feebay.
Good luck. -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Ya it's called get an Intel X3100 motherboard for the T61 and don't be bothered with Nvidia chips from the Napa/Santa Rosa platform era. They will ALL fail, I still wouldn't trust the revised NVS140M chips.

If you actually need the GPU power, I'd buy a new laptop. For sure. -
When I was building my (since sold) QXGA T601 FrankenPad, I dished out $275 for a 14" (4:3) T61 with nVidia NVS140M, just because I knew the owner personally and was very familiar with his user patterns...but that's me. -
I must be the only happy owner with my nVidia T61 :| .... running games that my Intel T61 just cant, lol.
speaking of which, I'm going to play some Team Fortress 2 tonight -

Now I have a nagging desire for an 08/08+ planar.
