Does the known GPU problem only apply to 570 chips, or are the 140 chips affected also?

    Thanks,
    ww

If you're talking about the Nvidia Quadro 140m chip then unfortunately yes, they're are also affected by the same issue since it is based on the 8400M-GS chip which has the same defect.

Alright. I guess I should avoid all of the T61's.

I've never had good luck with integrated graphics. I had a z60t once and it was the worst thinkpad I had ever owned, by far.

Since they didn't come with switchable graphics, integrated was your best bet for battery life. The X3100 is good enough for Windows 7 Aero, but it won't play any serious 3D games or do CAD type work. So it really depends on what your looking to do.

The Z60t used a first generation Intel integrated graphics card, which is lot different to the latter Intel GPU.

I use integrated GPU on most of mine Thinkpads, they function okay with it.

Obviously, you can't do any complex CAD or games on it, but as an everyday laptop you can't really beat their reliability.
