    Hello:

I have a T61 with the built in broadband (WWAN) for Cingular/AT&T.

I have done a clean install of Vista Ultimate, and all drivers are up to date for Vista, the broadband card, and for AT&T Communication Manager.

I am having a problem that is intermittent, but sometimes occurs every few minutes making it completely annoying to try to use.

The connection will just "stop". When checking Communication Manager, it will still say "connected" and when I try to "disconnect" it just doesn't do anything. Nothing in windows seems to work, the broadband will still be listed in Fn+F5 (sometimes), and the LED always stays on. However, the only thing I can do to try getting my broadband card to work again is to shut off all wireless devices (with the hard switch), cloes Communication Manager, and then wait a few minutes to turn back on.

However, sometimes when turing on, the card will not be detected and so I have to restart the computer, which about 90% of the time, the computer will then stall on start up requiring a hard reset to get things working again (related problem or not? I don't know, but annoying and consistent).

This has been going on for a couple months, and the one thing that I really wonder about is that I recall there was a BIOS update (2.10) prior to me having this problem.

BTW, this happens in various locations over a 30 mile metroplex area (thus I am not convinced at all that it is a 'signal' issue).

Anyway, I wish I could describe my problem better, but I am completely frustrated with this. Any ideas before I go buy an external broadband card to see if it works any better?

What kind of adapter do you have?

It's the built in broadband adapter; for Cingular/AT&T.

Looking at Device Manager, it says "Sierra Wireless HSDPA Network Adapter"

    Thanks!

FYI: I installed Vista SP1 shortly after that last post and haven't had a single problem since. Go figure.

Hope that info helps someone else!
