    Hi all,

    I just received my T61 14.1 wsga+ a few day ago.
But today I noticed both bottom corners on the LCD screen is significantly dimmer, about 20% dimmer. I check the part number already I have a Samsung 42T0412. Just like to know if this is a common problem with the Sammy and is there a resolution? I'm thinking of sending it back for repair or even return it. The laptop is perfect except for the screen, hope there is a fix for the problem.
    Thanks!

Since laptop price become lower and lower, TFT panel quality drops. There is planty files about screen quality. A lot of people complain about fuzzy screen, too dim, unconstant back light, poor color, and so on. Depending on screen size and resolution, some manufactuer offer better or less worst panels. It seems Samsung is not the best. My T61 WXGA+ comes with an LG/Philips panel. It's really nice. Unforunately, my T61p got a poor Samsung 15.4" WUXGA panel.

I have the spot as well, on the lower right corner. But since it's at the cornerest of corners, it doesn't intefere with my life, so I'm content.

Attached a picture, left corner is not too bad but the right corner is really noticable.

I have that as well. Though probably SLIGHTLY better than yours. You can try to call them up and get it replaced. What I did was put a blue-ish wallpaper, and the spot isn't as visible anymore.

Issue surfaced on mine recently when I decided to move my taskbar. I'm trying to resolve the issue w/ Lenovo as we speak. We'll see how this pans out.

I thought this was pretty unreasonable. It's like having a hole in your wall and just covering it up with a painting. It's bugging me, and all I've gotta say is that Lenovo better replace my screen.

I thought my laptop is the only one with this problem.
I dont really notice it unless i purposely look for it, i guess i will live with it only if it does not get worse or the dark area does not get any bigger.
I will to give Lenovo tomorrow and see what they have to say.

Issue fixed without sending it back for repair.
    : )

I was able to massage the dimmer corners to almost 100% with microfibre cloth.

My ordered T61 has been shipped. Received this also, part # 42V9324 SBB 14.1WXGA +TFT,W/OCAM...........wondering if this is the same screen you have and did your order form show the same part #. Not really happy about the screen issues on these, considering just not accepting delivery and canceling order. Hope you make out ok with your's whatever you decide to do.

Alright, so this is my story with having a Samsung LCD that was dim at the bottom right hand corner. I sent my laptop in along with an 8 x 10 w/ 3 pictures demonstrating the issue I was having. When they got the laptop, they called to notify that they were acknowledging the problem and that my LCD would be replaced. So far so good, right? At this point, I decided to request an LG monitor in the hopes that I'd be able to avoid a sour monitor.

I got my computer back just recently, and guess what. The monitor is easily one of the MOST grainy I have ever used. Color is fine, but there is no doubt in my mind that this monitor is worse than the Samsung I sent in. :( I also installed PC Wizard to verify that this is an actual LG panel, and it is. I discovered, however, that the monitor was also manufactured in 2005. I really just do not know what I need to do to fix this new issue, but that is the story at this point in time.

heh - looks like they gave you an LG that someone else had sent back because it was too grainy... Then they will give your Samsung to someone else who complains that their LG was grainy... and so it goes.

Sorry to hear everyone's bad experiences w/ their LCD panels. I have a LG 14.1" WXGA+ and it is decent. The brightness is better than my 2 y/o Asus and the matte finish is nice.

The only compliant I have would be backlight bleeding on the bottom of the panel. Quite noticeable... other than that the color is fine and I haven't experienced any 'grainy' issues. Cheers!

Btw, i'm not going to send this in to Lenovo because the laptop was on sale for a good price and "beggers can't be choosers"...

I'd like to laugh. I really would, but this kind of company policy is just deplorable.

No LCD screen will ever be perfect.

I wholeheartedly agree that no LCD is perfect in respect to backlighting, color, response rate, clarity, or viewing angles, but there is certainly a line between usable and nonusable LCD panels.

Thanks for relating your experience to us, dohuy--sorry it was "teh suck". I have similarly "dimmed" corners in my Samsung panel (pictures at http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=191784&page=7&p=2734436) but opted to not send it back because Lenovo does not accept requests for replacement part type, and because I highly doubted my laptop would come back "better" overall...when you have someone take it apart and put it back together again, it seemed like there was a big risk (from other customer stories I heard here) that something wouldn't get put back right, and I didn't want to deal with that. It really sucks they didn't even give you a good replacement part.

    Agreed!
I've got a dim right bottom corner as well on my Samsung panel. It is a 1680x1050 panel (LTN154P2-L05) manufactured in 2005.

Other than that, the panel is ... OK. I've got no dead or stuck pixels and the brightness is - at least for me - evenly distributed and high enough.

Again - no LCD is perfect, so I'll definitely live with this minor annoyance rather than going through the hassle with Lenovo support and eventually ending up with something worse than I started out with.
