Does anyone know if it's possible to buy T61 with Linux and then reformat and re-install WindowsXP on it?

    Thanks,

Tons of people have done just that. There are even "clean install xp" threads in this forum to guide you step by step.

Why would you not just get it with XP in the first place?
But to answer your question it can easily be done.

Its cheaper with Linux, especially if you already have a copy of XP.
