Well my T61s awesome except for this LCD issue that I have. I've got the 14.1" WXGA+ that everyone waited for. I reformatted it with XP and it's been awesome. The only problem is that when I shut the screen and open it back up again, it flashes the desktop for a half of a second then goes back to being black like the lid was closed again even though it's not. The screen has no issues otherwise and is of great quality. Also, if I tell it to go to standby when I close the lid, nothing happens. It just sits in Windows and doesn't attempt anything. The computer runs like normal with the lid open and the screen off also. To restart it, I need to hold the power button (since I can't see whats on the screen). Then start the computer that way.

Where is the detector for determining if the lid is opened and closed on this thing? There's usually a button somewhere, but I don't see anything.

Let me know if you have any ideas as to what could be wrong

    Thanks

Click Control panel>Mobile PC and under the power options click "Change what closing the lid does". Set it to do nothing when you close the lid. See if that helps.

I'm running Windows XP Pro and I've got the power manager set to "Do Nothing" and it still happens

As an update it doesn't do it when Windows is loading or in the BIOS so I'm assuming its just a driver issue in Windows

Did it also do this when you still had Vista?

It might also be your Power Manager settings, eg. "Turn off screen after 2 minutes." (then the computer would still continue to run)
