    Hello guys and girls:

I finally bought my T61 and have been struggling with a most annoying problem: After the first boot and (apparent) install of Vista Business, upon every boot I get repeat messages to install drivers for:
    PCI Simple Communications Controller
    and
    PCI Serial Port
First, there are no CDs with drivers as such. Second, I did perform a full update via the ThinkVantage software. Then I googled the error message and found two possible resolutions:
    a) this is the freaking modem. Nope, I installed everything that was available at lenovo support but to no avail
    b) this is the Intel AMT. Same here, I installed the latest, then entered with CTRL+P during boot, using the default password but... I cannot change the damn default password to get to the AMT config menu to try finding a possible solution there...

What drivers am I missing? I ask for your expert guidance - how can I resolve this?

    Regards,

I'm having the same issue. Has anyone figured this one out? Mine is an XP install.

Actually I just figured it out. I disabled the AMT in the BIOS and it went away. If you're not using it you could probably just do the same. If you are it looks like perhaps the AMT drivers just need installed? However I have not yet tried doing so.

Hey I just figured it out... and this is the real fix (not to say that themomonga's fix isnt right), but to actually get rid of those problems, you need to first turn on AMT from the bios, then from the 'SWSETUP' folder on the Preinstalled T61 OS off of the 'c:\' drive go in to 'drivers' then into 'amt' install the 'setup.exe' from the 'HECI' Folder and go back and do the same from the 'LMS_SOL' folder.

The 'HECI' will fix the PCI Simple Communications Controller

The "LMS_SOL' will fix the PCI Serial Port

Then you should see something new in the Device Manager

    This would be the C:\SWSETUP\DRIVERS\AMT\

If any of you that have this problem, need the files, PM me.
    word.

Glorious, thanks, looking for this for a couple hours. This works on the new Lenovo ThinkCentre M58P, type 7359, model AFU which looks like a laptop mobo.

Thanks, could you please send me the files or point me in the right direction on the IBM website? I reloaded with an OEM Disc and I just can't seem to find the drivers anywhere.

What did the unknown devices turn into once you loaded them?

    Thank you in advance!

I did the same thing and it worked. Hopefully this doesn't disable the serial port though.
