T61 Red stripes

I was wondering if anyone here has received a T61 recently with the red stripes on it. Some times ago it has been said on Lenovoblogs that production would change to bring back the red stripes "as soon as possible". I guess it hasn't been done yet...

I read the same statement as well, but I don't think any ThinkPads will get this change before sometime during next year at the earliest. I am sure they still have quite a stock of the current design and common business sense would tell me that they will finish the batch before implementing keyboards with red and blue mouse buttons.

I feel the same way.

I don't really miss the grey function keys, but I would definitely like to see the red and blue stripes back.

 

red stripes and IBM are now gone, I placed a personal order for a T61 and it came with the THINKPAD logo....So it looks like from here on out the IBM logo is gone.

 

Not quite correct.
If you follow the links in this thread you will see that Lenovo is planning to put the stripes back again.

You are more or less right about the logo though. Lenovo is in the midst of the brand transition, but one might still get the IBM logo. Depending on whether it is corporate purchase, which market/country you buy it in, etc. But they are phasing out the IBM brand sooner than many people thought.

If people are very sensitive about the IBM logo, they can still purchase them individually from i.e. eBay. I personally find the new ThinkPad logo to be much better looking, but to each his own.

 

Oh yeah, I didn't know they were planning to bring the stripes back. I was kinda sad when I realized they were gone, but it's really no big deal. I use the touchpad most of the time anyway.
