Why can't I buy a t61 with a wxga+ screen w/ a webcam? I can buy a r61i with that option. I know the screen is not spectacular so no way I would consider a xga, but I need a wecam. I'd but the t61 laptop tomorrow if I could. Frustrating.

As far as I know, this has always been the case. They only allow the integrated webcam on the WXGA models.

I seem to remember cams on the wxga+ briefly last summer, only to disappear and never be seen again. My screen bezel has a cut out for a cam, but its just a cheep plastic insert after all. I think you may have to wait for t400.
