T61 Shipping Estimates

I just got off the phone with Lenovo. I was told that the estimated shipping dates on the T61 are definitely the earliest ship date for the order. They are shipping early for earlier models, but the T61 is going to definitely take 2-3 weeks to ship.

Just thought folks might want to know.

I think the consensus on here is that it takes about a month to get your laptop, whether it be a t60 or t61. I ordered my t61 on 5/10 and it still stay "in process" on the order status page. I have a estimated ship date of 5/30

 

For the T61, i think the time before it's suppose to ship is 2 1/2 weeks. One poster on another thread said his was shipped within 2 weeks. That's giving me a little hope atleast.

 

When I ordered mine, the page said "ships in 1-2 weeks." Once I submitted the order (on 5/20,) it showed an estimated ship date of 6/1. When they sent my confirmation e-mail and I clicked the order status link, it showed an estimated ship date of 6/7.

I asked the Lenovo sales rep if that 6/7 date was accurate and he said that it was, but I'm not opposed to believing that he was saying that to avoid committing to anything earlier. I can hope at least.

Wait. Did he say that the 6/7 date is the minimum, or that preliminary 1-2 weeks* estimation made before you ordered? Anyways, im on the phone with a rep. He said it could ship before or after the estimated day.

 

mine shipped in under 2 weeks. i ordered on the 10th and will recieve today, the 23rd. i am from canada.

 

Thats great . I just canceled mine . I'll probably look for a t60 now.

 

Don't suppose you got the memory card reader? Curious what it looks like.

 

Lucky you....I ordered on the 10th and mine is still "in process", whatever that means. I think with so many people changing their orders to get the webcam, my order might get pushed up on the chain. Let us know what you think when you get it. What specs did you get if you don't mind me asking?

 

Why? Do you have some kind of deadline or are you just impatient?

 

I specifically asked about the 6/7 date. However, since then, it seems that others have reported receiving them early. Could have been just a safe answer by the rep to whom I spoke.

As far as I can tell, it stays at "In Process" until it ships. I've never seen anyone mention any other status. Maybe one of the guys further along have some input.

my impression from dealing with the customer service reps is that they have no idea how long it takes to get the computer to you other than what the screen says.

when i had to cancel an inital order to place a modified new order, the rep had to send a message to the warehouse to get confirmation that the computer can be cancelled. he wouldn't just cancel the order right there when i called. this process probably means that the warehouse has complete control over when a computer ships and the estimate shipping date is just the warehouse's rough estimate based on workload, and for the purpose of the customer servc reps to keep the customers at bay.

 

You're probably right. Can anyone who's received a T61 (or had it shipped) comment on whether the status changes from "In Process" to something else prior to shipping?

this is where i miss Dells service...they have a great order tracking system, and almost always beat edimated times be more than a week.

Ordered on 5/22/07 and the estimated date is 06/08/07. So this may be later?

 

My guess would be no later than that, but it's just a guess. I haven't seen very many people reporting shipment after the estimated date. You never know until you see the status change I don't guess.

 

Having just ordered a 14.1 I was shocked to get a ship date of 8/29/07. I guess the Memorial Day sale *was* too good to be true.

 

Mine has a estimated ship date of 5/30...with the holiday weekend that is the earliest that my computer will ship at this point.

 

People have mentioned that this is just an initial target date posted and it will change. My new order says the same thing at this time. My previous order that I canceled said that as well, but it changed the next business day to 6/8/07.

 

My ship est. ship date is for August 29th as well... hopefully you are right concerning them changing this, as I start law school on the 13th

 

Everyone within this forum had my hopes up by saying that lenovo usually ships early than the estimated dates. I ordered on 5/9/07 and it was estimated to ship on 5/28/07, after tomorrow should I call them, or should I wait longer. I really have been looking forward to getting this laptop.

 

I really hope those long ship times are a bug, as I'll need mine LONG before August 29th.

 

I got an Aug 29 ship date as well(T61).
If this is Accurate I will have to CXL...
And I really want a New Thinkpad to replace the aging T41...

 

I think on the next business day (Tuesday) this would get updated. I know it takes a full day to process the initial order and my order was entered in on Friday as I placed the new order on Thursday after work.

 

well this is nice my estimated ship date just changed to 8/30/07, guess that bug is messing with everything.

 

Probably gets fixed after the holiday:

"Hi team,

Please be advised that the August esd's on the new T61 orders are incorrect.

These systems should have a 2 to 3 week ship eta.

We are working to fix this issue asap.

My first ship date was 5/22 than 5/28 and now 5/30. I hope they will ship on 5/30.

 

I ordered mine on May 9th over the phone as the web site link wasn't active at the time. The order couldn't be placed until May 10th by the sales rep. The ship date shows May 29th, it hasn't changed since my order was placed. I'm hoping it ships tomorrow as scheduled.

I haven't heard of anyone in the U.S. recieving their orders. A few people on these boards have recieved them but they were residents of canada.

 

Ordered: 5/21/07 Scheduled: 6/7/07 Status: in process.

 

Dang. I was hoping they'd ship mine out before the expected day of June 7... but it doesn't look like that will happen.

 

I ordered on 5/9 and had a ship date of 5/28. Then this morning I noticed that it changed to 8/30. I can't wait that long! I guess I will wait to see if it is corrected by tomorrow afternoon, if it isn't, I will be calling them before they close at 6 pm to cancel my order.

 

pbollin, the esd of 8/30 is reportedly a bug. I'm waiting to call Lenovo tomorrow also and find out whether or not the systems will be shipping within the normal 1-3 weeks.

 

I ordered mine on 5/14 and the estimate still says 5/31. Here's hoping.

 

I too ordered mine on May 9th and it had a ship date of May 28th. I was so excited to check my online status and get my tracking information but much to my dismay my order was also postponed and now has a ship date of Aug 30th. I do hope its a bug in their system because waiting 3.5 months for a notebook is just insane. By that time the new T7800 chip will be out.
did anyone notice you can't configure a T61 with a T7700 processor anymore?

 

I think the shipping date only changes when it reaches the date that it was supposed to ship. So in your case, it won't change until 5/31. I hope it is a bug due to the holiday, I need my computer within the next two weeks. I am calling them tomorrow and cancelling my order if it won't ship within the next two weeks. I should have no problem cancelling the order becuase if it is really set to ship on 8/30, then it surely isn't built and my order can easily be disregarded.

 

I inquired about cancelling my order last week when I saw the T61's came out with the video camera. They said once the order has been processed you can't cancel the order, but you have 21 days after delivery to return the unopened laptop box.

 

How do you return it? Just print out a label or something??

 

I am not waiting another 3 months just to send it back. They should cancel it without question. I can only conclude that it hasn't been built yet because of the ling wait, which would in theory, mean that the order can easily be cancelled. I am very worried!!!

 

From talking to their sales rep once the laptop is shipped and received you call lenovo back and they will arrange to have UPS pick up the laptop. you will get a refund if the box has been unopened. You can try to call to cancel it, but I was told it wasn't possible in my case
