Hi guys,
I want to install Windows 7 on my work laptop by swapping the DVD drive by an additional HDD in the Ultrabay slot.
I checked on eBay the different adapters I could find, and it appears that the T40 adapter works for the T60. However, I also found a 'flat panel' caddy to fit with the T60 design.
I couldn't however get any detailed part information on Lenovo website (only the SATA version).
My question is: does this 'flat panel' design originally come from IBM? What about the legacy T40 caddies?
Thanks for your help!
Regards

I believe T4x and T6x drives are interchangeable, but as you've noticed, the when using one from another, they will not match exactly.

ZaZ - Yes, I believe the T41 style bevel will not match the T60 style.
I can't find any documentation on Lenovo website for a T60 style IDE HDD caddy. Does someone ever bought an original one from IBM/Lenovo?
Thanks -
Which flat panel caddy? I had the ultrabay for my 14" R60. I never had any problem with it.

This one for example: flat panel

You are saying the flat bevel which is used in Lenovo thinkpads T series. This one will work in your T61 and the legacy T40 should work in the T61 too. But PATA hdd are quite hard to find, you are better off with a SATA hdd, so you should purchase a SATA caddy for the T61.
Remember that post-T61 ultrabay slim (i.e. T400 and T500, etc) uses a SATA interface, rather than the old PATA interface. -
lead_org, we agree on that. I ordered the legacy one (with the T40-type bevel). I ordered a PATA version because I have several PATA 2.5 drives (including a new WD Scorpio to fit on my previous HP nc8230).
Thanks
