I'm wondering if there's any way to upgrade my T61 video card. The one I purchased comes with integrated graphics - Intel GMA X3100 GM965. I'm not too familiar with the hardware, but I'm assuming that "discrete graphics" is better. I was hoping this will improve the performance of my notebook since I use Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator on a daily basis.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    No, it's impossible.

Btw, Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator don't need a video card anyway.

While working with Photoshop I experienced some windows overlapping (not sure what the terminology is). I have 3GB RAM and 2.2GHz T500 processor. Not sure what's causing it.

Is it Photoshop CS3? There's a bug that causes cursors to flicker and some windows will fail to redraw if there is/are a plug-in(s) folder(s) outside of C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Plug-Ins

That failure to redraw windows is probably what's causing the "overlapping" problem, if I'm understand you correctly.

It's Photoshop CS2 and it worked fine on my desktop before I decided to switch to a notebook, which tells me this is probably a hardware issue.

    oren212,

With an integrated graphics card you may experience little annoyances aka performance with delayed response with graphics related tasks such as 3D modeling and graphic design. The simplest solution is to set your color quality to a lower setting (16 bit) under "display settings" or "Intel GMA driver settings" I do a lot of 3D realted design work and reducing high graphics output is almost a given. Hope this helps.

That's a wrong assumption to make as they're both different platforms entirely...different drivers for one.
CPU and RAM are the biggest determinant in performance in graphic editing. Seeing as you have a t7500 and 3gb I doubt you're lacking in performance for those tasks.

He has 3gb of ram which should be enough. It could also be some spyware running or something else running in the background
