    Hi
I recently installed Vista Business 64 bit on my thinkpad and i simply cant install Intel Matrix Storage Manager drivers! I tried installing it manually, downloaded the installation from intel site... nothing worked.
Vista is running very slowly and i suspect the problem is that its running in SATA compatibility mode which i can't change unless I install matrix storage manager drivers. (blue screen appears during booting)
    Help anyone?

    Thanks

I haven't heard of anyone ever needing to run in SATA compatibility mode with Vista. It is not necessary to run in SATA compatibility mode prior to installing the Intel Matrix Storage manager. I'd suggest starting over and doing a clean install following the guide in my sig.

Have you tried installing the driver from Lenovo? Do you have turbo memory?

The reason I ask about Turbo Memory is because the Turbo Memory driver includes both Turbo Memory AND Intel Matrix Storage Manager. So if you installed the Turbo Memory Driver, the Matrix Storage Driver will already be installed.

Could you more fully describe the hardware you are using, the BIOS SATA controller setting, what you are installing after Vista x64, etc. ???

OK I've been through that one. When I was getting BSODs from a bad Turbo Memory Driver, at one point, the only way to get the machine to boot was to use Compatibility mode. What happens then is that Vista can run, but it is slow.

Also, and you might not have noticed this, but when you run in compatibility mode, Vista automatically installs new drivers for your SATA controller, and they cannot run in AHCI mode. So you will need to manually change the SATA controller back to the correct driver (82801 HEM/HBM) so you can boot in AHCI mode. Then you should be able to install the other stuff.

Plus, when you change this, Vista decides that you need reactivation. Bon Appetite.
