I also can confirm this. I have installed sp1 several weeks ago and i have absolutely no problem. It would be insane to have different behaviour between WU and standalone.

Perhaps the reason for that is your machines didn't have any driver conflicts. My friend, who is having problems, did have driver conflicts and he installed the standalone version anyway. Getting it through WU also seems to be assurance that your laptop is compatible with SP1 and doesn't need any driver updates. SP1 wouldn't appear in WU as I had an outdated driver file on the biometric processor for the fingerprint scanner. Once I had update the file SP1 appeared. Isn't this alone an excellent reason to get it from WU rather than downloading the standalone version?

I'm running ultimate 32 bit on 2 t61 systems (received a few days ago) and ran the full sp1 update (from my burned cdrom) and everything worked just fine. Afterwarrds, I've logged in each time with the fingerprint reader and it works. I also did a before and after copy and found that afterwards the file copy of camera pics went from 5.5mb/sec to 7.8mb/sec which is my typical XP to XP network maximum. So all in all this update has been a plus.

Hi. I have beta/RC version of Sp1 installed on my T61. Do I need to uninstall beat/RC SP1 before installing the official release?

If so how do I remove the beta version?

    thx

    It is finally here.
All those with Intel graphics and T61 can now upgrade to SP1 via windows update.

First download the optional Intel display driver via Windows Update, then restart and after a couple of hours you'll get SP1 via windows Update.

    :) Did it myself.
